衝突，墜落 exposes 湾 between Brazilians and their leaders
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) ― As Brazilians 嘆く／悼むd the 最近の 計画（する） 衝突，墜落 that killed 71 people, 含むing almost an entire サッカー team, 大統領 Michel Temer spent days 公然と wavering about whether to …に出席する the 記念の service in the southern city of Chapeco.
His 同盟（する）s in congress were even いっそう少なく tactful: They 開始する，打ち上げるd an around-the-clock 開会／開廷／会期 捜し出すing to gut anti-汚職 法律制定 on the same day people learned of the 災害, spurring violent 抗議するs in the 資本／首都 of Brasilia.
Coming from an already 深く，強烈に 人気がない 政府, the bungled 返答 to what is seen as a 国家の 悲劇 has 怒り／怒るd Brazilians to the point where 分析家s say it has put Temer's ambitious 計画（する）s to 削減（する） spending and 精密検査する the 年金 system in jeopardy. And there are 増加するing calls, mostly from 対立 政治家，政治屋s but also ordinary 国民s, for Temer to be 弾こうするd just like his 前任者.

"The 悲劇 of the Chapecoense team was not only a 行方不明になるd 適切な時期 for the 大統領，／社長, it was also 損失ing," said Carlos Manhanelli, chairman of the Brazilian 協会 of Political 顧問s. "Once more it gave the impression that 政治家，政治屋s don't care about normal people."
The 計画（する） 衝突，墜落d outside Medellin, Colombia, late on the night of Nov. 28. The next morning Brazilians woke up to the shocking news, 含むing that 19 players on the Chapecoense サッカー club were の中で the dead.
Temer, the former 副／悪徳行為 大統領，／社長 who took over the 最高の，を越す 職業 in August after 大統領 Dilma Rousseff was 除去するd from office for breaking 会計の 責任／義務 法律s, called for three days of 国家の 嘆く／悼むing. But Temer's solemn words were not 注意するd by his 法律を制定する 同盟（する）s.
That night one 議会 of congress 急ぐd through an 人気がない spending-削減（する） 手段, while the other moved to 弱める anti-汚職 法律制定 and even 追加する 刑罰，罰則s for 検察官，検事s and 裁判官s who overstep their 力／強力にする.
The 手段 on 汚職 was 特に galling for many Brazilians as about 60 パーセント of sitting 国会議員s are under 調査 or already 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d with 悪事を働くこと ― mostly 汚職，収賄, によれば 地元の 監視者 groups. A 広範囲にわたる 調査（する） into a kickback 計画／陰謀 at 明言する／公表する oil company Petrobras has snared dozens of 最高の，を越す 政治家，政治屋s and 商売／仕事 (n)役員／(a)執行力のあるs in 最近の months.
Television 駅／配置するs, which had been broadcasting the 最新の news on the 衝突，墜落 all day, switched to the rowdy 抗議するs that 爆発するd outside congress during the 開会／開廷／会期s. Several thousand デモ参加者／実演宣伝者s overturned and 燃やすd cars during an hours-long 引き分け with 暴動 police.
"The public wasn't so distracted by the 悲劇 that they 行方不明になるd that unsavory 行為／法令／行動する," said James Bosworth, a Washington-based 危険 分析家. "In fact, the congressional 投票（する） 強化するd the public's 見解（をとる） that the country's 政治家，政治屋s are more 利益／興味d in helping themselves than helping the country."
大統領の 補佐官s 最初 said Temer, who has been booed the rare times he appeared in public, would not …に出席する the 記念の in Chapeco on Dec. 3. Then, under 激しい 圧力, they said he would go to the city but only 会合，会う with grieving families at the airport.
Osmar Machado, a shoe salesman whose サッカー player son Felipe was killed in the 衝突，墜落, became a 国家の hero when he 爆破d Temer and other 政治家，政治屋s for their 返答.
"What are these 政治家，政治屋s thinking? The important people here are the families and the 犠牲者s," a tearful Machado said at the stadium where the 記念の was to take place. "This Temer guy wants families to go to the 地元の airport of Chapeco to see him and get some メダル. But he is the one that had to come here and talk to us."
"Doesn't he get that?" Machado said.
Temer, a 75-year-old career 政治家，政治屋 愛称d the "butler" for his dour manner, 結局 did …に出席する the 記念の. But the 大統領，／社長, 閣僚 大臣s and 同盟（する）s who …を伴ってd him were 大部分は ignored by the 22,000 people in the stadium.

"That way we would know that there is at least one person in the 大統領の palace who understands the stature of the 職業 and the 義務 of not hiding," Rossi wrote in the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo.
The day after the 記念の, in more than two dozen cities, hundreds of thousands 抗議するd against Temer's and congress' 試みる／企てるs to defang the anti-汚職 法律制定. So 広大な／多数の／重要な was the uproar that the 手段 has been put on 持つ／拘留する, at least for now.
Political 危険 consultancy Eurasia has raised from 10 パーセント to 20 パーセント its 見積（る） on the 見込み that Temer will not last in office through the end of his 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 in 2018. Temer is 直面するing 主張s that he received 違法な （選挙などの）運動をする 寄付s ― something he 否定するs ― and his 行政 has lurched from one スキャンダル to the next, losing six 閣僚 大臣s まっただ中に a 安定した stream of 告訴，告発s of 悪事を働くこと.
The 騒動 in Brasilia, coupled with Temer's 無（不）能 to connect with ordinary Brazilians, makes his prospects of winning support for contentious 法律制定 like 年金 改革（する） all the more ありそうもない. A 投票 published Sunday by DataFolha said 63 パーセント of Brazilians want Temer to 辞職する. The 調査する interviewed 2,828 people Dec. 7-8 and had a 利ざや of error of two 百分率 points.
"We need someone who can 直す／買収する，八百長をする things, not create more problems," taxi driver Marcelo Veloso said. "I had some hope after Rousseff was 除去するd, but now I think we need a man of the people to sort this out."
