Snow makes for frowns on Northeast roads, smiles on slopes
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ― Snow and 氷点の rain made for messy 減刑する／通勤するs and の近くにd hundreds of schools Monday as a snowstorm 押し進めるd into the Northeast.
The 嵐／襲撃する left nearly a foot of snow on the ground in some 位置／汚点／見つけ出すs in the 広大な／多数の／重要な Lakes and upper Midwest before ダンピング up to about a half-foot across New York and northern New England. Boston, New York City and Philadelphia were spared.

Portland, Maine, got about 4 インチs of snow, but that wasn't enough to の近くに 負かす／撃墜する the Portland Fish 交流, an auction house that was 準備するing for the arrival of day boat scallops later Monday.
"We've got a 乗組員 in here doing snow 除去 and 修理s and whatnot," said auction house general 経営者／支配人 Bert Jongerden. "It's pretty rare that we happen to の近くに here. This is just a little bit of nuisance snow, really."

"We love it," Rowell said. "There are lots kids there that took advantage of that 適切な時期."
But it wasn't all fun and games.
Brian Audet, of Epsom, said he saw one car off the road as he drove into Concord 早期に Monday. "It was slow going, but they stayed ahead of it, and it was pretty decent," he said.
David Holden, owner of Hair Biz Salon in Concord, was の中で those spending the morning shoveling the city's newly 拡大するd sidewalks.
"The roads are really slippery this morning. It's a first bigger snow for us in New Hampshire, we probably have 6 or 7 インチs, and so they were a little slippery and people were moving slow," he said.

The 嵐／襲撃するs left Chicago-area freeways with patches of snow and ice, making travel more difficult. The area received more than 6 インチs of snow as of Sunday night.
気温s 15 to 30 degrees below 普通の／平均（する） will follow the 冷淡な rain and snow in the coming days through much of the Midwest and East.
