Afghanistan war getting little notice from Trump White House
WASHINGTON (AP) ― Afghanistan, America's longest 軍の fight, is getting little attention so far from the Trump 行政 にもかかわらず the 長引いた struggle to rein in the Taliban and 戦う／戦い a stubborn Islamic 明言する／公表する (v)提携させる(n)支部，加入者 there.
The 衝突, now in its 16th year, got only a peripheral について言及する during 大統領 Donald Trump's visit Monday to U.S. Central 命令（する）, which 監督するs the 衝突s in the Middle East. And there's little discussion of a 改造するd 政策 to beef up the Afghan 安全 軍隊s as they work to make their country 安全な・保証する.
America, Trump said in Tampa, 表明するs its 感謝 to "everyone serving overseas, 含むing our 軍の 職員／兵員 in Afghanistan." That was it for a 衝突 that 含むs about 8,400 U.S. 軍隊／機動隊s 行為／行うing counterterrorism 操作／手術s against 謀反のs, and training and advising Afghanistan's 軍の.

The contrast with the U.S. 成果／努力 to 敗北・負かす IS in Iraq and Syria has been striking. While Trump has given the 米国防総省 30 days to come up with a new 計画（する） to 敗北・負かす the self-述べるd caliphate, there has been no 類似の order for Afghanistan. It's 不明瞭な if the White House 簡単に wants to 持続する Obama 行政 政策s to 支える Afghan 軍隊s and keep some U.S. 軍隊／機動隊s in the country for counterterror 使節団s.
The Taliban has had "前進するs and eroded some of our successes," 弁護 長官 Jim Mattis said last month in his 確定／確認 審理，公聴会, another 発生地 where the Afghanistan 衝突 attracted scant 利益／興味. The silence has in some ways 増強するd the notion of Afghanistan as a modern-day "forgotten war."
At the 米国防総省, however, there is 普及した 期待 Mattis will take a hard look at the （選挙などの）運動をする. A retired 海洋 general, Mattis 命令（する）d 軍隊／機動隊s there in the 早期に days of the war, after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. He is a strong 支持者 of the 北大西洋条約機構 連合 spearheading training and advising 成果／努力s.
Mattis spoke with Afghan 大統領 Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday, a day 示すd by a 自殺 爆破 at the country's 最高裁判所 in Kabul that killed at least 19 people. 最近の attacks increas ingly have 的d Afghanistan's 司法の, 強調するing the nation's challenges.
