中国 left as 観察者／傍聴者 as 緊張s rise on Korean 半島
BEIJING (AP) - 中国's 外務大臣 recently に例えるd the U.S. and North Korea to two スピード違反 trains hurtling toward each other, an analogy that would seem to place 中国 in the 役割 of helpless bystander. And indeed, while 緊張s have risen, Beijing has been 失望させるd by its 拒絶する／低下するing 影響（力） over the Korean 半島.
中国 "has a grandstand seat but no 支配（する）／統制する," said University of Virginia 中国 scholar Brantly Womack.

"中国's approach to the 半島 is under the same 緊張するs that it's been under before. The difference is that, this time, the Americans appear to be 適用するing more overt, real 圧力," said Dean Cheng, 上級の 研究 fellow at the 遺産 創立／基礎 in Washington, D.C.

Also 複雑にするing 事柄s: The 予測できなく of 大統領 Donald Trump, who earlier this month tweeted that the U.S. welcomed 中国's help in 解決するing the 危機, then 追加するd, "If not, we will solve the problem without them!"
不確定s also reside in South Korea's 選挙 next month to 取って代わる 不名誉d former 大統領 Park Geun-hye; her 後継者 is likely to be more 懐柔的な toward the North. 一方／合間, 中国 continues to 主張する that it won't stand idly by while ソウル （軍隊を）展開する，配備するs the ミサイル system, known as THAAD, 運動ing home its point by 停止（させる）ing 一括 小旅行するs to the S outh and 報復するing against a supermarket chain and other South Korean 商売／仕事 利益／興味s within 中国.
While THAAD appears to be a done 取引，協定, 中国 is playing a long game of reminding South Korea that, as a smaller and 女性 nation, it needs to subordinate its 安全 利益／興味s to those of 中国, said Cheng.
"South Korea has been put on notice that 未来 弁護 成果／努力s will likely also 背負い込む costs," Cheng said.
Such 批評s have been 増強するd by 明言する／公表する マスコミ, with the 共産主義者 Party newspaper 全世界の Times 令状ing Wednesday that South Korea was also 責任がある "fanning the 炎上s" of 緊張s on the Korean 半島 by （軍隊を）展開する，配備するing THAAD and failing to encourage Washington to enter into 会談.
Beijing is also 取引，協定ing with divided public opinion 国内で. Younger Chinese with only a passing knowledge of the 1950-53 Korean War, in which hundreds of thousands of Chinese 軍隊／機動隊s died fighting と一緒に their North Korean 同盟（する）s, are ますます 冷笑的な about the 伝統的な friendship between the two countries.
批評s of North Korea that were once quickly scrubbed from the internet are now 存在 許すd to 循環させる, 含むing a scathing speech by historian Shen Zhihua in which he （刑事）被告 Pyongyang of 直接／まっすぐに working against 中国's 利益／興味s.
分析家s say critics may even 含む Chinese 大統領 Xi Jinping, who is said to be 深く，強烈に 失望させるd with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's intransigence since taking 力／強力にする in 2011 に引き続いて the death of his father, Kim Jong Il.
In the years since, Xi and Kim have never met. Liu Yunshan, a member of the 判決，裁定 共産主義者 Party's （共産党）政治局 Standing 委員会, is the last important Chinese 公式の／役人 to visit North Korea. Other affronts to Beijing 含む Kim's 死刑執行 of his uncle Jang S ong Thaek, who had been the 政権's main point of 接触する with 中国, and the 殺人，大当り earlier this year in Malaysia of Kim's half brother Kim Jong Nam, who was said to live partly under Chinese 保護 in the 賭事ing 飛び領土 of Macau. Malaysia is 捜し出すing four North Korean 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑うs.
While it has いっそう少なく 推論する／理由 to 恐れる a North Korean 核の 武器, 中国 intensely dislikes 不安定 in its 近隣 and worries about South Korea and Japan 答える／応じるing by going 核の themselves.
So while it …に反対するs 活動／戦闘s that might 倒れる Kim's 政権 and かもしれない send a wave of 難民s across the Chinese 国境, 中国 has agreed to 連続する 一連の会議、交渉／完成するs of 許可／制裁s since 2006. In February, it 一時停止するd 輸入するs of coal from North Korea, 奪うing the country of an important source of foreign 通貨.
The U.S. wants Beijing to do more, かもしれない 含むing cutting off 燃料 供給（する）s. Trump has floated the idea of 申し込む／申し出ing advantageous 貿易（する） 条件 in 交流 for help in although no 詳細（に述べる）s have been 解放（する）d.
"I think Beijing is 用意が出来ている to 強化する the screws - but only so much. There's no question that Xi Jinping 堅固に dislikes, even probably detests, Kim Jong Un and wants to 解決する this 問題／発行する," said Paul Haenle, director of the Carnegie-Tsinghua 中心 at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
However, the 範囲 of 中国's 活動／戦闘 remains 限られた／立憲的な by its 優先s on North Korea: "No war, no 不安定, no 核兵器s," in 拒絶する／低下するing order of importance, said Haenle. "The Chinese are never going to go as far as we would like ーに関して／ーの点でs of putting 圧力 on the 政権 in Pyongyang."
中国 has 繰り返して called for 対話 between Washington and Pyongyang, either bilaterally or through the six-party 過程 that's been on ice since 2009. 中国 has also 勧めるd, to little 返答, that North Korea 一時停止する its 核の 武器s and ミサイル programs in return for the U.S. and South Korea 停止（させる）ing 年次の wargames that the North considers a 序幕 to an 侵略.
"中国's 許可／制裁s and persuasio n have been so far not very 効果的な, but 中国 is still making its best 成果／努力s," said Lu Chao, director of the 国境 熟考する／考慮する 学校／設ける of the Liaoning 学院 of Social Sciences, a 政府 think 戦車／タンク.
Lu said 中国 is still 希望に満ちた a 交渉するd 解決／入植地 can be 得るd if the U.S. reaches out to North Korea and the international community 納得させるs Pyongyang that no one is planning to attack it or 捜し出す 政権 change.
"As U.S. 公式の／役人s have pointed out, the U.S. is not 捜し出すing the 崩壊（する） of the North Korean 政権. That's a very 肯定的な 表現."
