After 2 years out, Kasper skis 支援する into Olympic picture

WENGEN, Switzerland (AP) - Of all the 2014 Olympians 目的(とする)ing to return to the Winter Games next month, American スキーヤー Nolan Kasper's path might be the least traveled.

The Vermont 居住(者) 行方不明になるd two 十分な seasons 回復するing from 多重の 膝 外科s, and 卒業生(する)d from an Ivy League college at age 28.

On Sunday, Kasper's 復帰 race in a challenging World Cup slalom in Switzerland was a 重要な step to winning 選択 for a third straight Olympics.

Kasper overcame the (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域-up snow surface typically 直面するing racers that wear No. 52 and earned a second run on a quirky hill. A solid second run placed him 20th.

"It's been a while. To put two runs 負かす/撃墜する, I'll take it," Kasper told The Associated 圧力(をかける) minutes after his first World Cup race since January 2015.

Kasper has two more エリート races in Austria - at storied Kitzbueh el and a pulsating floodlit race at Schladming - to show coaches he should go to the Pyeongchang Olympics. The 入ること/参加(者) 最終期限 is Jan. 28 and the men's slalom in South Korea is on Feb. 22.

Still, he has "no idea" of the U.S. team 選択 支配するs, にもかかわらず placing 13th at Sochi four years ago and 24th at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

"A bunch of other people can 人物/姿/数字 that out, not me," Kasper said. "It would be 広大な/多数の/重要な to go there but if that's not to be, it's not really something I'm 焦点(を合わせる)ing on."

His main 焦点(を合わせる) is again taking on the best in the World Cup. In 2011, he tied for second in Slovenia, 0.09 seconds behind the next Olympic 支持する/優勝者, Mario Matt of Austria.

"If you want to try to ski 急速な/放蕩な, (the World Cup) is where you've got to 証明する it," said Kasper, who barely clicked on his skis for two years after a cartilage 傷害 first 要求するd 外科.

A 長引かせるd 回復 let him 速度(を上げる) up 完全にするing an 経済的なs degree at Dartmouth College he began in 2010.

Kasper 卒業生(する)d last June, and spent time last year working as an 抑留する for U.S. Ski and Snowboard in Park City, Utah.

He returned to training in October, and now has two more weeks to bring his Olympic 旅行 十分な circle.
