PITTSBURGH (AP) - Clayton Richard's 計画（する） was simple.
After the San Diego Padres gave him a three-run lead in the first inning, Richard decided to attack the zone 早期に and often. It worked.

The left-hander pitched into the eighth inning for a third straight start after 許すing a 連合させるd five runs and 12 攻撃する，衝突するs in his previous two. He gave up seven 攻撃する，衝突するs with two strikeou ts, and had 65 strikes on 84 pitches.
"I think we 設立するd that we were going to be in the zone," Richard said. "When our 罪／違反 jumps out to that type of lead, it's a 抱擁する help. You don't have to be as 罰金. Jose Pirela also had two 打点s for the Padres, who have won two straight games and three of their past four. Villanueva's 11th ホームラン gave San Diego a 4-0 lead with two outs in the eighth inning.
