Travel still dangerous in flooded areas of North Carolina

BLADENBORO, N.C. (AP) - Travel remained dangerous Saturday in southeastern North Carolina, where the 知事 警告するd of "背信の" 洪水s more than a week after ハリケーン Florence made landfall, and 勧めるd 居住(者)s to stay 警報 for flood 警告s and 避難/引き上げ orders.

Gov. Roy Cooper said nine of the 明言する/公表する's river 計器s are at major flood 行う/開催する/段階 and four others are at 穏健な 行う/開催する/段階, while parts of Interstates 95 and 40 will remain underwater for another week or more. 緊急 管理/経営 公式の/役人s said 居住(者)s whose homes were 損失d or destroyed will begin moving into hotel rooms next week.

South Carolina also h as ordered more 避難/引き上げs as rivers continue to rise in the 影響 of a 嵐/襲撃する that has (人命などを)奪う,主張するd at least 43 lives since slamming into the coast more than a week ago.

The small farming community of Nichols, South Carolina, about 40 miles (65 キロメーターs) from the coast, was 完全に inundated by water, 市長 Lawson 乱打する said Saturday. He called the 状況/情勢 "worse than Matthew," the 2016 ハリケーン that destroyed almost 90 パーセント of the town's 261 homes. 戦う/戦い said flooding from Florence has wiped out the 150 or so homes rebuilt afterward.

North Carolina 緊急 管理/経営 Director Michael Sprayberry said Saturday that eastern 郡s continue to see major flooding, 含むing areas along the 黒人/ボイコット, 板材, Neuse and Cape 恐れる rivers. The Cape 恐れる riv er is 推定する/予想するd to crest Sunday and remain at flood 行う/開催する/段階 through 早期に next week.
