Liz Weston: There's always a next 後退,不況, so be 用意が出来ている

後退,不況s are like natural 災害s: They're 必然的な, but smart 準備 may 減ずる the 衝撃 on you.

The U.S. economy has grown 刻々と since 現れるing from the "広大な/多数の/重要な 後退,不況" in June 2009, but 拡大s can't continue forever, and this one is already the second-longest on 記録,記録的な/記録する. Only the 拡大 from March 1991 to March 2001 lasted longer.

後退,不況s occur when growth stops and the economy starts to 縮む. They 変化させる in severity and length, but often 職業s disappear, incomes 拒絶する/低下する and 貸す人s make it harder to qualify for credit.

Knowing what may be coming can help you 防備を堅める/強化する your 財政/金融s to withstand a possible 減産/沈滞. Here are some steps to consider.

REDUCE YOUR 'MUST HAVES'

The 50/30/20 予算 示唆するs 限界ing your must-have expenses to 50 パーセント of your after-税金 income, with 30 パーセント 配分するd to wants and 20 パーセント to 負債 支払い(額) and 貯金. Must-有産国 含む 避難所, transportation, food, 公共事業(料金)/有用性s, 保険, and 最小限 貸付金 支払い(額)s.

限界ing 必須の expenses 確実にするs you have room to 支払う/賃金 off the past, save for the 未来 and have a little fun. Capping them also helps during bad 経済的な times, when you may need to はっきりと 減ずる your spending because of 職業 loss or 減ずるd hours.

PROTECT YOUR CREDIT SCORES

貸す人s often get pickier during 後退,不況s. They may 凍結する lines of credit, の近くに credit card accounts and make new 貸付金s harder to get.

People with good credit 得点する/非難する/20s tend to fare better when 貸す人s get choosy. 貸す人s need to stay in 商売/仕事, after all, so when delinquencies and defaults rise they want to cultivate 顧客s who are most likely to 支払う/賃金 them 支援する.

Because high 得点する/非難する/20s 示唆する you'll 支払う/賃金 as agreed, 保護するing your 得点する/非難する/20s is 必須の. That means 支払う/賃金ing all your 法案s on time, using only a small 量 of your credit 限界s, keeping old credit card accounts open and 存在 selective about 開始 new accounts.

INCREASE YOUR FINANCIAL FLEXIBILITY

Ideally, everyone would have an 緊急 基金 equal to at least three months' 価値(がある) of expenses. But most people don't have nearly that much saved, and building up such a stash can take years.

In the 合間, it's smart to 始める,決める up 接近 to 付加 credit that you can tap if you lose your 職業 or 直面する other 財政上の 後退s. If you own your home, you may be able to 始める,決める up a home 公正,普通株主権 line of credit or 取って代わる your 現在の line with one that has a higher 限界. Having a few credit cards can help 同様に.

The 重要な to the 戦略 is to keep these lines open and 未使用の. (You'll need to make a few small 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s to keep the credit cards active, but you should 支払う/賃金 the balances in 十分な each month.) If you have credit card 負債, 焦点(を合わせる) on 支払う/賃金ing that 負かす/撃墜する since you'll 解放する/自由な up 利用できる credit and save money on 利益/興味.

But don't 急ぐ to 支払う/賃金 off student 貸付金s or mortgages, 特に if you have higher-率 負債 or a paltry 緊急 基金. Your extra 主要な/長/主犯 支払い(額)s typically won't 減ずる your 要求するd 月毎の 支払い(額), and you can't get that money 支援する if you need cash in an 緊急. Although 存在 負債-解放する/自由な is a good goal, in a 後退,不況 it can be more important to have 財政上の 柔軟性.

UPDATE YOUR INVESTMENTS

If your 株式市場 投資s 含む money you'll need in the next five years, now is the time to move it to a lower-危険 投資 such as a short-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 社債 基金 or cash.

You should be able to leave any 株式市場 投資s alone for at least five years and preferably 10, so your 大臣の地位 has time to 回復する from 下降s.

Now is also a good time to rebalance your 大臣の地位 to your 的 mix of 在庫/株s, 社債s and cash. The long bull market means that you may have too much money in 在庫/株s, which leaves you more 攻撃を受けやすい to 減少(する)s. If you're not in the habit of rebalancing at least once a year, consider using a 的-date 退職 基金, a lifestyle 基金 or a robo-助言者, which all take care of that chore automatically.

There won't be 税金 consequences for these moves if you're 投資するing inside a 税金-deferred account, such as an アイルランド共和国軍 or 401(k). Before making moves in a taxable account, 協議する a 税金 プロの/賛成の.

All of these steps make sense 関わりなく what happens with the economy. Taking them now can help you better 扱う whatever comes next.
