Long-distance trip: 航空宇宙局 開始 space 駅/配置する to 訪問者s

NEW YORK (AP) - You've heard about the International Space 駅/配置する for years. Want to visit?

航空宇宙局 発表するd Friday that the 軌道ing outpost is now open for 商売/仕事 to 私的な 国民s, with the first visit 推定する/予想するd to be as 早期に as next year.

There is a catch, though: You'll need to raise your own cash, and it won't be cheap.

A 一連の会議、交渉/完成する-trip ticket likely will cost an 概算の $58 million. And accommodations will run about $35,000 per night, for trips of up to 30 days long, said 航空宇宙局's 長,指導者 財政上の officer Jeff DeWit.

"But it won't come with any Hilton or Marriott points," DeWit said during a news 会議/協議会 at Nasdaq in New York City.

旅行者s don't have to be U.S. 国民s. People from other countries will also be 適格の, as long as they 飛行機で行く on a U.S.-operated ロケット/急騰する.

Since the スペースシャトル program ended in 2011, 航空宇宙局 has flown 宇宙飛行士s to the space 駅/配置する 船内に ロシアの ロケット/急騰するs. The 機関 has 契約d with SpaceX and Boeing to 飛行機で行く 未来 乗組員d 使節団s to the space 駅/配置する. 私的な 国民s would have to make travel 手はず/準備 with those 私的な companies to reach 軌道.

"If a 私的な 宇宙飛行士 is on 駅/配置する, they will have to 支払う/賃金 us while they're there for the life support, the food, the water, things of that nature," DeWit 追加するd.

Depending on the market, the 機関 will 許す up to two 訪問者s per year, for now. And the 私的な 宇宙飛行士s will have to 会合,会う the same 医療の 基準s, training and certification 手続きs as 正規の/正選手 乗組員 members.

The space 駅/配置する has welcomed tourists before by way of ロシアの ロケット/急騰するs. In 2001, California 実業家 Dennis Tito became the first 訪問者 by 支払う/賃金ing for a 旅行 and several others have followed.

Friday's 告示 示すs the first time 航空宇宙局 is 許すing 私的な 宇宙飛行士s on board. The space 機関 will not be selling 直接/まっすぐに to 顧客s. Instead it will 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 私的な companies that フェリー(で運ぶ) p assengers, which can pass on the costs to 訪問者s, 航空宇宙局 spokeswoman Stephanie Schierholz said in an email.

The program is part of 航空宇宙局's 成果/努力s to open the 駅/配置する to 私的な 産業s, which the 機関 hopes will 相続する the 軌道ing 壇・綱領・公約 someday.

結局, the space 駅/配置する will become too expensive for the 政府 to 持続する, said 法案 Gerstenmaier, a 航空宇宙局 associate 行政官/管理者. So the idea is to let the 私的な 部門 start using the 駅/配置する now and perhaps 結局 take it over, he said.

The 航空宇宙局 公式の/役人s said some 歳入 from 商業の activities will help the 機関 焦点(を合わせる) its 資源s on returning to the moon in 2024, a major goal of the Trump 行政. The 機関 said this will also 減ずる the cost to U.S. taxpayers for this next lunar 使節団.
