集まり 狙撃s so far this year almost reach 2018 levels

SEATTLE (AP) - Just seven months into 2019, the U.S. has experienced almost as many 集まり 殺人,大当りs as occurred in all of 2018.

支援する-to-支援する 集まり 狙撃s in Texas and Ohio brought the total number of 集まり 殺人,大当りs so far this year to 23, leaving 131 people dead. There were 25 集まり 殺人,大当りs in 2018, (人命などを)奪う,主張するing 140 lives, によれば a database 収集するd by The Associated 圧力(をかける), Northeastern University and USA Today.

OVERALL NUMBERS

The last three years have seen several fluctuations in 集まり 殺人,大当り numbers. In 2017, 225 people died in 32 集まり 殺人,大当りs, driven by the 大虐殺 in Las Vegas. In 2018, the year was 示すd by a 殺到する in 集まり 殺人,大当りs in public places, 含むing schools in Texas and Florida.

集まり 殺人,大当りs - defined as 殺人,大当りs 伴う/関わるing four or more fatalities, not 含むing the 殺し屋 - have occurred in 16 明言する/公表するs this year. California has experienced four of them.

FAMILY MEMBERS KILLED

The 大多数 of 集まり 殺人,大当りs 伴う/関わる 国内の 暴力/激しさ, and eight of 74 public 集まり 狙撃s since 2006 伴う/関わるd the 殺人,大当り of a 血 親族, the data shows. The shooter's parent, sibling, cousin, 甥 or niece was 発射 first and then the 悪党/犯人 sought out others to kill.

"They'll take it out on family and then society, 人物/姿/数字ing they already committed a 殺人," said David Chipman, a former スパイ/執行官 with the Bureau of Alcohol, タバコ, 小火器 and 爆発性のs who now 作品 as a 政策 助言者 at Giffords: Courage to Fight Gun 暴力/激しさ. "D omestic 暴力/激しさ is the most risky call for service that police go on."

Before 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed 26 children and staff at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, he had fatally 発射 his mother in their Newtown, Connecticut home.

Jaylen Fryberg, 15, sent text messages to 誘惑する two cousins and several friends to the cafeteria at Marysville Pilchuck High School in Marysville, Washington, in 2014. He then 発射 the four students before turning the gun on himself.

And last month, police say a man in Southern California began his rampage by 殺人,大当り and 負傷させるing family members before 狙撃 strangers. In the end, he is (刑事)被告 of 殺人,大当り four people.

YOUNG KILLERS

The AP/USA Today/Northeastern database shows that many 集まり 狙撃s are committed by a 確かな demographic: young, white men.

Most 集まり 狙撃s in the U.S. are carried out by men, with white men making up nearly 50 パーセント of the shooters, the database shows.

The median age of a public 集まり shooter is 28; 意味ありげに lower than the median age of a person who commits a 集まり 狙撃 of their family, によれば the database.

Since 2006, 12 集まり 狙撃s have been committed by gunmen 21 or younger. That 含むs the 21-year-old 嫌疑者,容疑者/疑うd 銃器携帯者/殺しや in El Paso.

ARRESTED OR KILLED

More than half of public 集まり shooters either kill themselves on the scene or are 発射 by police.

Lanza and Fryberg killed themselves, as did Stephen Paddock, the man who killed 58 people and 負傷させるd 422 …に出席するing a country music festival in Las Vegas in 2017. So did the man who killed 33 at Virginia Tech in 2007; the former 地方自治体の 労働者 who 殺人d 12 in Virginia Beach this year; and the mentally ill man who gunned 負かす/撃墜する four at an IHop restaurant in Nevada in 2011. The Pulse nightclub shooter was killed by police in Orlando.

The man who opened 解雇する/砲火/射撃 at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in July also committed 自殺.

"They 明白に went through the thought 過程 of 'I may 結局最後にはーなる dead,'" said Frank Farley, a 寺 University psychology professor and former 大統領,/社長 of the American Psychological 協会. "And did it anyway."

James Holmes, who killed 12 and 負傷させるd 70 in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, was 宣告,判決d in 2015 to life in 刑務所,拘置所. Dylann Roof, a white supremacist who fatally 発射 nine people …に出席するing the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2015, was 宣告,判決d to death.
