It's not uncommon to see people 狙撃 up or snorting 砕く in the Tenderloin 近隣, which 含む／封じ込めるs City Hall, several 連邦の buildings, a large 全住民 of homeless and is just minutes from tourist-激しい Union Square. The 近隣 has long been a public safety problem in a city famous for its permissiveness, and leaders are divided on how to 演説（する）／住所 the 麻薬 疫病／流行性の.
But in his first news 会議／協議会 since 存在 任命するd by 大統領 Donald Trump in January, U.S. 弁護士／代理人／検事 David Anderson said he could no longer stand by as tourists, 政府 労働者s and 居住（者）s wade through a daily slog of 罪，犯罪. He said an 施行 率先 by more than 15 連邦の 機関s would not 影響する／感情 "innocent" homeless people or 麻薬 使用者s but would 取り組む high-level 麻薬 取引，協定ing, 詐欺, 身元 窃盗 and 小火器.
"My belief is that the Tenderloin, in fairness, deserves the 支配する of 法律 every bit as much as other 罰金 近隣s in San Francisco," he said. "This is not an 移民／移住 率先. This is not a 国外追放 率先. This is a public safety 率先."

"I hope that this isn't a way to get around San Francisco 聖域 法律s," he said. "There can be an important 役割 for the U.S. 弁護士／代理人／検事 in going after higher level individuals, and I hope that is where they would put their 焦点（を合わせる）."

"The police department will not partner with them on that activity," he said. "At least, they're not supposed to."

"Each morning, 麻薬s were dropped off with 売買業者s in the East Bay and then 減刑する／通勤するd into the city to sell to people from all over the area," he said.
The 連邦の 厳重取締, however, was 非難するd by San Francisco's 連合 on Homelessness, whose 公式の／役人s say the Trump 行政 is 的ing 移民，移住（する）s and the poor. "We are 深く，強烈に 関心d that low level 違反者／犯罪者s, 麻薬 使用者s and individuals who do not have homes and are therefore more likely to come in 接触する with 法律 施行 will be disparately 衝撃d," said Sam Lew, the 連合's 政策 director.
Others say the 近隣 猛烈に needs help. Andrea Fogelbach opened her "Slingshot Cafe" coffee shop two months ago in the 近隣, where discarded needles litter the streets and people sleep in テントs or out in the open.
"It's pretty bad. They're just 狙撃 up 権利 in 前線 of you," she said. "I'm afraid for my dog stepping on needles most of the time. If I had children, I don't think I could live here."
The 組織するd nature of 麻薬 peddling in the Tenderloin was 特記する／引用するd in an April city 報告（する）／憶測, which 明言する／公表するd that more than half of nearly 900 people 調書をとる／予約するd into 刑務所，拘置所 or 特記する／引用するd for 出来事/事件s tied to 麻薬 sales in 2017-18 were 特記する／引用するd or 逮捕（する）d by police in the Tenderloin. It said a high 百分率 of 麻薬 sales 伴う／関わる 組織するd 罪，犯罪 and "販売人s often give 麻薬s to homeless people who are （麻薬）常用者d in 交流" for 持つ／拘留するing the 麻薬s.
The U.S. 弁護士／代理人／検事's office said it is 充てるing 15 検察官，検事s to the 厳重取締 for at least a year.
