US 指揮官: 共同 with Kurds against IS still strong

ERBIL, Iraq (AP) - A 上級の U.S. 連合 指揮官 said Friday the 共同 with Syrian Kurdish 軍隊s remains strong and 焦点(を合わせる)d on fighting the Islamic 明言する/公表する group, にもかかわらず an 拡大するing Turkish 急襲 into areas under Kurdish 支配(する)/統制する.

The U.S.-Syrian Kurdish 関係, which dates 支援する to 2014, was 緊張するd after 大統領 Donald Trump last month ordered American 軍隊/機動隊s out of northern Syria, making way for a Turkish 侵略 of Kurdish-held towns and villages along a stretch of the 国境.

On Friday, 報告(する)/憶測s said U.S. 軍隊s 完全にするd their 撤退 from Kobani, a 国境 地域 where the 共同 against IS was 固く結び付けるd in 2014, and that ロシアのs moved into to 取って代わる them.

The 指揮官´s comments to The Associated 圧力(をかける) 反映する how 軍隊/機動隊s on the ground are trying to stick to the 初めの 目的(とする)s of the Syria 使節団 にもかかわらず a 減ずるd and changed 足跡. They say they are staying to fight と一緒に Kurdish 軍隊s against the Islamic 明言する/公表する group, 同様に as 否定する IS the oil fields as a source of 歳入 while showing support for the Kurdish 闘士,戦闘機s who have lost a sizeable part of the 30 パーセント of syria they once controlled. Their words however come as Trump says the 使節団 now is 焦点(を合わせる)d on 安全な・保証するing oil fields and 組織/基盤/下部構造.

空気/公表する 軍隊 Maj. Gen. Eric T. Hill told the AP on Friday that Islamic 明言する/公表する 交戦的なs remain "a 全世界の 脅し" and that the 共同 with the Kurds and international 活動/戦闘 is still needed against it.

"So, I don't think the work is 完全にする. We still have to 追求する them and 除去する them everywhere we can find them," he told the AP in a telephone interview from Baghdad.

Hill said IS 交戦的なs are trying to 再編成する and find new 財政/金融ing, are still interacting with 支持者s on social マスコミ and continue to 陰謀(を企てる) attacks through (v)提携させる(n)支部,加入者s around the world. Syria and Iraq, he said, remain "the 中心 point for all Daesh 操作/手術s," he 追加するd, using the Arabic acronym for IS. "This is where Daesh lives and where they 調整する their 行為/法令/行動するs of terror."

Kurdish and American 軍隊s are now operating in a 地域 that is more 複雑にするd and (人が)群がるd with 軍隊/機動隊s since the Turks began their attack on northeast Syria in 早期に October, 目的(とする)d at 押し進めるing the Kurdi sh 闘士,戦闘機s away from the 国境.

Turkish 軍隊s have 強固にする/合併する/制圧するd 支配(する)/統制する over a stretch of the 国境 running 120 キロメーターs (70 miles) wide and 30 キロメーターs (20 miles) 深い into Syria. They have also kept up 圧力 outside that area, fighting with Kurdish 軍隊s on the 辛勝する/優位s.

Syrian 政府 軍隊s and their ロシアの 同盟(する)s have moved into other parts of the 国境 under a ロシアの-Turkish 取引,協定.

U.S. 公式の/役人s 強調する that they will not fight Turkey, a 北大西洋条約機構 同盟(する).

But Hill 強調するd that the U.S. was standing by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic 軍隊s. "We have been working with (the SDF) for a long time and we continue to train and work with them now," Hill said. "So I think the 共同 is strong."

He said the SDF are "the lead on the ground" in fighting IS. "They know the land, they know the people, and they know the players. They are the best 軍隊 to fight Daesh, " he said.

While IS has lost its 領土の 支配(する)/統制する in Iraq and Syria, its 交戦的なs continue to 行う 謀反の attacks.

Hill said his 軍隊/機動隊s continue to train, advise and 用意する the Kurdish-led 軍隊s. The SDF is guarding the oil fields, and the U.S. is 供給するing them help in doing so, 同様に as in 安全な・保証するing some 11,000 IS 囚人s held in SDF-run 施設s, he said.

Both 味方するs have sought to show the U.S.-Kurdish 共同 never 病弱なd. One American 特殊部隊員 who 作品 closely with the SDF said at no one point there was any 減少(する) in communication between the two 味方するs, even as U.S. 軍隊s were pulling out from 国境 areas ahead of the Turkish 侵略.

"The friendship didn´t end to 再開する. It continues. We hope it also 得るs political results to find a political 解答," Mustafa Bali, an SDF 広報担当者, told AP earlier this week.

Over the last five years, the Kurdish-led 軍隊s have grown to between 40,000 to 60,000, 含むing Arab 闘士,戦闘機s. The U.S. has 供給するd them training, 弾薬/武器 and 戦術の 乗り物s but no 激しい 武器s. In the (選挙などの)運動をする against IS, the SDF have lost 11,000 闘士,戦闘機s.

Trump´s 拡大 of the 使節団 raises 合法的な questions.

保護するing the oil from IS can fit under the 合法的な 当局 that the U.S. first used to go into Syria to fight the 交戦的なs. That was based on 議会´ 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of 軍の 軍隊 that said U.S. 軍隊/機動隊s can use all necessary 軍隊 against those 伴う/関わるd in the Sept. 11 attacks and to 妨げる any 未来 行為/法令/行動するs of international テロ行為.

But the oil fields may more すぐに be under 脅し from the Syrian 政府, 支援するd by Russia and Iran. The U.S. 軍隊/機動隊s are not 合法的に 委任統治(領)d to fight 明言する/公表する actors fighting for oil on 君主 国/地域 but can only engage in self-弁護.

Hill didn´t 演説(する)/住所 this 問題/発行する but said his 軍隊s are "用意が出来ている for all シナリオs."

"We have very (疑いを)晴らす orders and we have very (疑いを)晴らす 指導/手引 on the direction that we will go," Hill said. "Clarity of our 使節団 and the clarity of our orders remain. We are 焦点(を合わせる)d on Daesh resurgence."

During a 最近の visit to two U.S. bases in eastern Syria, AP 新聞記者/雑誌記者s saw beefed up 軍隊s that 焦点(を合わせる)d on 持つ/拘留するing ground, such as Bradley 装甲の 乗り物s and 海洋s 軍隊s who could 安全な・保証する bases. There was no 調印する that Americans were 直接/まっすぐに guarding oil 取り付け・設備s.

On Friday, 報告(する)/憶測s from a war 監視する and a Kurdish news 機関 said U.S. 軍隊/機動隊s 完全にするd their 撤退 from their last position in the Kobani 地域, an 空気/公表する base known as the Kobani 上陸 Zone.

ロシアの 軍の police (軍隊を)展開する,配備するd in the base, the Syrian 観測所 for Human 権利s said. ビデオ 空気/公表するd by the Kurdistan 24 news 機関 showed a ロシアの 旗 hoisted at the 場所/位置.

U.S. 国防長官 示す Esper told reporters earlier this week that the 撤退 from Kobani would take a week or so.

Kobani was a scene of the first major 戦う/戦い to 運動 out IS in 2014, making it a symbol of U.S.-Kurdish 協調 against the 交戦的なs. During the 侵略, Turkish 公式の/役人s have 脅すd to move in on Kobani, which would 許す Turkey to link up its 領土s it 持つ/拘留するs to the west with newly 逮捕(する)d areas to the east.

一方/合間, Syrian 大統領 Bashar Assad repeated 警告s that the American presence in Syria will lead to 武装した "抵抗" that "will exact losses の中で the Americans, and その結果 軍隊 them to leave."

Speaking with Russia24 TV and Rossiya Segodnya news 機関, Assad said Americans should remember the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and that "Syria will not be an exception."

He also 非難するd Kurdish groups 捜し出すing to 始める,決める up an 自治権のある 地域 inside Syria. "We shall never 受託する any 分離主義者 propositions under any circumstances," he said.

In northwestern Syria, an airstrike on the village of Bara in Idlib 州 killed five people and 負傷させるd several others, によれば the 観測所 and the Syrian Civil 弁護, also known as White Helmets. The dead 含むd three children who were brothers, the 観測所 said.

Idlib, the last major 反逆者/反逆する 要塞/本拠地 in Syria, is 支配するd by members of al-Qaida-linked Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. A 停戦 stopped the 政府 不快な/攻撃 on Idlib at the end of August but in 最近の days, 対立 行動主義者s have 報告(する)/憶測d 爆撃する and airstrikes in the area.
