No. 5 Kansas pulls away in second half, (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域s Stanford 72-56

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - When Udoka Azubuike had a rare 静かな day on the 不快な/攻撃 end, he kept after it on the boards, and Kansas turned to its perimeter game to finally pull away.

Isaiah Moss made three straight 3-pointers during a 決定的な second-half stretch and finished with 17 points off the (法廷の)裁判, and No. 5 Kansas overcame an inconsistent 業績/成果 on both ends to (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 Stanford 72-56 Sunday.

"Both teams were so inept offensively that I'm sure it was a hard game for a lot of people to watch the first half, but we did defend and 回復する," Kansas coach 法案 Self said.

Azubuike grabbed 13 回復するs as the Jayhawks (10-2) held a big advantage on the boards, but he took just two 発射s to 得点する/非難する/20 two points and committed five turnovers while playing with foul trouble. Kansas' second-主要な scorer at 14.0 points per game 行方不明になるd all five of his 解放する/自由な-throw 試みる/企てるs in a sub-par day with several NBA scouts in the stands.

Kansas bounced 支援する from just its second 敗北・負かす - the team's two losses are by a 連合させるd three points - 56-55 at Villanova on Dec. 21 in spite of 21 turnovers.

It was certainly a strange 遠出 for Azubuike considering the 上級の 中心, 7-feet and 270 続けざまに猛撃するs, had seven dunks against Stanford when the Jayhawks last played the series in Northern California two years ago, a 75-54 victory. He had his team's first 10 points in that matchup and 24 in all. On Sunday, he didn't take his first 発射 until 8:45 remaining in the first half にもかかわらず his 重要な size advantage in the paint.

Kansas instead kept letting it 飛行機で行く from long 範囲 早期に, beginning 1 of 5 on 3-pointers before making 6 of 8 from 深い over the final 20 minutes.

"Having our (法廷の)裁判 guys 連合させる to make seven 3s, that's something that we welcome," Self said.

Ochai Agbaji and Devon Dotson 追加するd 14 points each as Kansas won its fourth straight 会合 with Stanford. That leaves Stanford coach Jerod Haase winless against his former school as the programs 結論する a four-year 協定. Haase said the series is over for the time 存在.

"We're trying to build up the schedule and put ourselves in the best position possible," Haase said. "It's good to get 国家の (危険などに)さらす and play a 国家の brand like Kansas, but I also feel like we're building a 創立/基礎 here that we will be a 国家の brand for Stanford basketball moving 今後 同様に."

Oscar da Silva 得点する/非難する/20d 19 points for Stanford (11-2) in 前線 of a lively, towel-waving (人が)群がる at Maples Pavilion, where the large 次第で変わる/派遣部隊 of Jayhawks fans 元気づけるd loudly when Kansas took the 床に打ち倒す and continued all afternoon.

Kansas jumped to a 7-0 lead before Stanford's timeout at the 15:29 示す of the first half and 行方不明になるd its 初期の 14 発射s - 行方不明の seven 3s - and went scoreless over the first 13 所有/入手s with four turnovers. Oscar da Silva got the 枢機けい/主要な on the board at last with a pair of 解放する/自由な throws at the 12:11 示す.

"I felt like they helped us out in the first half a little bit by not knocking 負かす/撃墜する 発射s," Jayhawks guard Marcus Garrett said.

Stanford finally made its first field goal at 8:12 when Isaac White 得点する/非難する/20d on a follow-up jumper moments after Kansas had an 0-for-5 所有/入手.

The Jayhawks also began the game with a 12-4 回復するing advantage with 5-0 辛勝する/優位 on second-chance points.

But 14 first-half turnovers 傷つける as Stanford pulled within 28-18 at halftime.

"In simple 条件 we have to 減ずる our turnovers," Haase said.

OOPS

Daejon Davis made the 前線 end of a 1-and-1 解放する/自由な throw 適切な時期 5:45 before halftime before the 公式の/役人s reviewed who should be 狙撃, took away the point and sent Lukas Kisunas to the line instead. He 行方不明になるd.
