Watson's mind 重要な to success with Houston Texans
HOUSTON (AP) - When not practicing or breaking 負かす／撃墜する film, Deshaun Watson looks for ways to 動機づける.
Before Houston's プレーオフ 勝利，勝つ last week, the quarterback gave his 罪／違反 high-end headphones with a 公式文書，認める that read: "Let's be 広大な／多数の／重要な."
"I just had to remind them because that's what we want to do ... why not be 広大な／多数の／重要な," Watson said. "How 広大な／多数の／重要な do you want to be to be able to 達成する the goal?"
As the Texans look for a 勝利，勝つ over Kansas City this week to 前進する to the AFC 選手権 game for the first time in franchise history, it's 平易な to see how Watson's mindset of greatness has spread throughout this team.
After the Texans 決起大会／結集させるd from a 16-point 赤字 in the third ４半期/4分の1 to get a 22-19 overtime 勝利，勝つ against the 法案s on Saturday, left 取り組む Laremy Tunsil was asked what the 重要な to the 抱擁する 復帰 was.
"Having a quarterback like 4," the big man said referring to Watson´s jersey number, before giving a look that 示すd that was all that needed to be said.

Watson is always learning and looking for ways to 改善する as a leader. To that end, he´s reading a 調書をとる／予約する about creating 肯定的な change 肩書を与えるd "The Coffee Bean" by Jon Gordon and Damon West. Though Watson was already living the guiding 原則 in the 調書をとる／予約する before he started reading it, seeing the idea in print 繰り返し言うd the importance of its message.
"If you're the coffee bean, you put a coffee bean in water and it spreads throughout the water and it changes the flavor," Watson said. "So, you be the coffee bean that changes the 環境 that you're in. Don't let the 環境 change you."
Gordon has worked with the Clemson football team for years and first became aware of Watson years ago when the quarterback was still in high school. But he still remembers the moment vividly.
Gordon was talking with Dabo Swinney when the Clemson coach pointed to Watson and explained who he was.
"He said: `He´s very, very special. He´s going to be one of the かつてない 広大な／多数の／重要なs,´" Gordon 解任するd.
Since then Gordon has gotten to know Watson through 年一回の visits to speak to the Clemson football team and has kept in touch with him since his move to the NFL. It didn´t take long for him to see that Swinney was 正確に／まさに 権利 about his 査定／評価 of Watson.
"If you watch him play and watch the way he leads he´s incredible," said Gordon, a best-selling author who 作品 with several college and professional sports teams. "The mental 構成, his will to 勝利，勝つ, he doesn´t get fazed. He loves the big moments. He was made for those moments and he really has this Michael Jordan-factor as Dabo said. He will do whatever it takes."
Gordon sent Watson three of his 調書をとる／予約するs 含むing "The Coffee Bean," but didn´t know until this week that he was reading it. He isn´t surprised that the 調書をとる／予約する spoke to Watson considering its message.
"Growing up in his 環境 he grew up in he could have been transformed by his 環境 with so many difficult circumstances he 直面するd," Gordon said. "And yet he overcame, and he´s really is the ultimate coffee bean because wherever he´s been, he´s transformed it."
Watson´s 肯定的な 態度 and ability to 動機づける others is only one of many 推論する／理由s why the Texans value him so much. From the moment he arrived in Houston coach 法案 O´Brien raved about his 知能 and football IQ. Earlier this season the 残り／休憩（する） of the world got a glimpse into what O´Brien sees every day when Watson broke 負かす／撃墜する the Panthers entire 弁護 in about a minute in 返答 to a reporter´s question.
In the clip that has since gone viral, Watson uses both 手渡すs to illustrate players on the 弁護, where they´re going, what he sees and where the receivers are running their 大勝するs.
Fans were wowed to get a glimpse behind the curtain and receive some insight into how much is going on during each play. But for those who know Watson best, it wasn´t anything new.
"I'm always learning, always trying to 改善する, always asking questions, so it was not a surprise to anybody in this organization, in this locker room, the coaching staff, that that just 肉親，親類d of （機の）カム out," Watson said. "I was just communicating with (the reporter), explaining to him what was going on and what I saw. Just 肉親，親類d of putting him in my shoes and going from there."
Another せいにする the Texans love about Watson is his uncanny ability to make jaw-dropping plays that most other quarterbacks couldn´t make. Two of the most noteworthy of those plays （機の）カム when he got kicked in the 注目する，もくろむ and still threw a touchdown pass against the Raiders earlier this season and on Saturday when he 避けるd two 解雇（する）s to make a 34-yard 完成 in overtime.

"For sure," he said. "It was definitely one of my 最高の，を越す plays I've ever made in my career. But for a lot of guys, 特に in that locker room and a lot of people that´s watched me grow up and play, it was a wild play, but it wasn't a surprise play for sure."
But for those who are new to the Watson experience such as receiver Kenny Stills, who was 貿易（する）d from Miami in August, it´s still a 扱う／治療する to 証言，証人／目撃する firsthand the things he does.
"Every time I see him do something like that I´m still surprised and amazed," Stills said. "He really put the team on his 支援する with some of the things that he did and we´re lucky to have him."
