4 safeties 争う for Hall of Fame 位置／汚点／見つけ出す, 3 WRs and OLs
MIAMI (AP) - There are 11 pure safeties in the プロの／賛成の Football Hall of Fame. Four more are 捜し出すing to join them when the Class of 2020 is selected Saturday.
John Lynch, now the general 経営者／支配人 of the 49ers who will play the 長，指導者s in Sunday's 最高の Bowl, is up for the seventh time. Steve Atwater is a finalist for the third time. LeRoy Butler and first-year 適格の Troy Polamalu 完全にする the quartet of safeties の中で the 15 final 候補者s.
"The Hall of Fame would be unbelievable. I'm humbled every year," Lynch says. "I've been a finalist seven times now. I don't know if it will やむを得ず change my life. I've been pretty blessed with my family, what I've been able to do in football. I've heard other people say that, and then they go in and say it's like happening. You never know until you're in there what it means to you.
"It would be tremendous. I'd be incredibly humbled and 栄誉（を受ける）d. Hopefully this is the year on Saturday."
Butler, who starred for the Packers from 1990-2001, has had the longest wait to get to this point.
Butler won a 最高の Bowl for Green Bay, which had a quarterback 指名するd Brett Favre - a first-投票（する） Hall of Famer - 主要な the way.

Favre is 毅然とした about Butler also deserving enshrinement.
"LeRoy was as important to our 最高の Bowl 勝利，勝つ and success as any other player on our team," Favre says. "I couldn't tell you the interceptions or 取り組むs - I know there were a lot - but his leadership and playmaking ability were 優れた. He had a knack for 存在 in the 権利 place at the 権利 time. 存在 around the ball.
"He wasn't the most 運動競技の guy and that might surprise a lot of people, but he was so 直感的に. He made the plays; some guys get in position and don't make the plays. He had a lot of 教祖的指導力 about him - he was the first to jump into the stands. That's no 推論する／理由 to put a guy into the Hall of Fame, but the career he had definitely is worthy."
Atwater was one of the hardest hitters at the position, an 脅迫してさせるing 人物／姿／数字 against the run but also a 軍隊 in pass ニュース報道. He played for a １０年間 with Denver, winning two 最高の Bowls, then one year with the Jets.
Polamalu was a do-everything safety for the Steelers from 2003-14 and the 2010 NFL 防御の Player of the Year - the last safety to earn the award. He was a four-time All-プロの／賛成の known for his freelancing playmaking.
The finalists from the 防御の 味方する also 含む lineman Richard Seymour and Bryant Young, linebackers Sam Mills and Zach Thomas.
On 罪／違反, the 候補者s are receivers Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne; linemen Steve Hutchinson, Alan Faneca and Tony Boselli; and running 支援する Reggie Wayne.
"I feel like the closer we get to that day, the バタフライs are going to start kicking in," Wayne said on SiriusXM NFL 無線で通信する. "I'm just enjoying the wave, excited to be in this position. I know 存在 a receiver this isn't the 平易な lock-in 位置／汚点／見つけ出す for the Hall of Fame. But man for me to be in this position on my first 投票（する）, words can't 述べる it."
Wayne and Polamalu are the only first-year 適格のs on the 投票（する） Saturday.
The five modern-day players elected will be inducted into the Canton, Ohio, 神社 on Aug. 8.
The Hall of Fame 以前 elected 15 members of a centennial class. They 含むd coaches Jimmy Johnson and 法案 Cowher; contributors Paul Tagliabue, the former NFL commissioner, Steve Sabol, who along with his father Ed - already a Hall of Fame member - created NFL Films, and George Young, who built the New York 巨大（な）s' 選手権 teams in 1986 and 1990.
Ten former players also were selected by the special centennial 委員会:
Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris; Cleveland receiver Mac Speedie; Pittsburgh safety Donnie 爆撃する; Green Bay safety Bobby Dillon; Detroit 防御の 取り組む Alex Karras; Eagles wide receiver Harold Carmichael; 不快な／攻撃 取り組むs Winston Hill of the Jets and Jim Covert of the 耐えるs; linebacker/防御の end Ed ぱらぱら雨 of the 耐えるs; and Duke Slater, one of the NFL´s first 黒人／ボイコット players, an 優れた two-way player in the league's earliest days.
