Loretta Lynn's 社債 with Patsy Cline remains strong

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn only knew each other a short time before Cline´s death at the age of 30, but the friendship formed between two trailblazers of country music is enough to fill a 調書をとる/予約する.

Lynn´s new memoir, "Me and Patsy: Kicking Up Dust," which was 解放(する)d Tuesday, chronicles their unbreakable 社債 as 開拓するing artists whose music (期間が)わたるs 世代s, 同様に friends who leaned on each other through good times and bad.

"We were two bad ones. If she´d still be around, we´d probably both be in the pen," the 87-year-old Lynn, said while laughing in a phone interview with The Associated 圧力(をかける) from her Tennessee home.

Cline, one of the most powerful and recognizable 発言する/表明するs in country music, took the Kentucky singer-songwriter under her wing in the 早期に ´60s. The two became quick friends, 社債ing over their music, their marriages and motherhood. At the time they knew each other, Cline was reaching the 頂点(に達する) of her career with crossover 攻撃する,衝突するs like "Crazy," while Lynn was just starting out.

"Patsy was always there to tell me what was 権利 and what was wrong," said Lynn. "She was my big sister that I never had."

Lynn, whose previous memoir "Coal 鉱夫´s Daughter" was a best-selling 攻撃する,衝突する and adapted into a Golden Globe-winning film, co-wrote the new 調書をとる/予約する with her daughter, Patsy Lynn Russell.

The two first met すぐに after Cline was 不正に 負傷させるd in a car 事故 in 1961, just months after 解放(する)ing her song "I 落ちる To Pieces." Cline heard Lynn singing on the 無線で通信する and asked her to come to the hospital to 会合,会う her.

"Bless her heart. I could tell she was in a lot of 苦痛," said Lynn. "Her 武器 and her 長,率いる were all 包帯d up. And it broke my heart."

Lynn was there for support when Cline struggled to hide her scars from the 難破させる. Cline also taught Lynn not to get 押し進めるd around by men in the 商売/仕事, telling her she should 需要・要求する to get her concert 支払い(額)s up 前線 and that she should 直面する male artists who pinched and touched her backstage.

"The men knew 正確に/まさに what Patsy thought and they´d try to get away with things with me, you know? But she´d seen them 行為/法令/行動する funny, and she´d tell them off," Lynn said.

Cline and Lynn 株d everything, like sisters. Cline showed Lynn how to shave her 脚s for the first time, taught her how to 運動 and gave Lynn dresses to wear on 行う/開催する/段階. Lynn even has a pair of lace panties that Cline gave her as a way to spice up Lynn´s marriage.

"I´ve got a pair of panties that she gave me that I wore for four years," said Lynn.

But as Cline´s career was at the 頂点(に達する) with songs like "Crazy" and "She´s Got You," 災害 struck. Cline was killed in a 計画(する) 衝突,墜落 近づく Camden, Tennessee, on March 5, 1963, as she was 長,率いるing home from a show. Her 経営者/支配人, Randy Hughes, and country 星/主役にするs Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins also died.

In the 調書をとる/予約する, Lynn 解任するs sitting by Cline´s 棺 at the family´s visitation and 審理,公聴会 Cline still talking to her.

Lynn never stopped thinking about the advice Cline gave her and it guided her as her career blossomed in the `60s and ´70s, becoming a 抱擁する 星/主役にする with 攻撃する,衝突するs like "The Pill" and "You Ain't Woman Enough." She 記録,記録的な/記録するd 尊敬の印 albums for Cline after her death, wanting to make sure fans remembered the late singer.

"She´s on my mind all the time," she said. "A lot of times, not even 推定する/予想するing it, but I´ll be sitting and thinking and I´ll see Patsy. I know a lot of people don´t believe that, but she´s with me all the time."
