OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - 新聞記者／雑誌記者s from around the U.S. are finding ways to help their 同僚s 簡単に 支払う／賃金 rent or buy groceries as they 直面する lost or 減ずるd paychecks because of layoffs and furloughs 原因（となる）d by the coronavirus pandemic.
Writers in Oklahoma can be paid stipends to continue chronicling the 影響s of COVID-19 on the 明言する／公表する and their 職業s when they take 未払いの time off. Virginia 新聞記者／雑誌記者s have collected money to 寄付する to others working in their field. And a group of 現在の and former reporters and editors from New York to California are 供給するing 利益／興味-解放する／自由な microloans to help others in their field make ends 会合，会う.
In Oklahoma, a 共同 to support 新聞記者／雑誌記者s has resulted in The Coronavirus Storytelling 事業／計画（する）. The 私的な Inasmuch 創立／基礎 誓約（する）d $50,000 and is working with Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame and nonprofit news 出口 Oklahoma Watch to 供給する five $500 認めるs each week for the next four months to laid-off or furloughed 新聞記者／雑誌記者s to 供給する essays, podcasts, photos or ビデオs of the challenges they 直面する.

A reporter's worst nightmare is for a source to make headlines when they're off. Colorful and often outspoken football coach マイク Gundy at Oklahoma 明言する／公表する University did just that the week Tramel was on furlough.
That meant Tramel wasn't 許すd to do interviews, send emails or 令状 for The Oklahoman when Gundy said during a マスコミ 会議／協議会 call that he hoped to have his team return to its 施設s by May 1, in 反抗 of 連邦の 時刻表／予定表s and social-distancing 指導基準s. The university quickly 発射 負かす／撃墜する the idea.
"Most 新聞記者／雑誌記者s don´t have an off switch," Trame l wrote. And he 認める that he tuned into the call anyway as Gundy went on a rambling tirade about the U.S. 存在 in better 形態／調整 than it appeared in the マスコミ.
So Tramel let his creative juices flow and he wrote. He told The Associated 圧力（をかける） that he quickly （機の）カム up with a new 愛称 for Gundy, "マイク Exotic," to 令状 about the coach's "cuckoo" 行為 and as a nod to now 悪名高い former Oklahoma zookeeper Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as "Joe Exotic." Like Joe Exotic, Gundy often sports a mullet.

In a sad irony, readers are more desperate than ever during the pandemic for reliable 地元の news. They want to know about 事例／患者s in their area, where they can get 実験（する）d and how the 病気 is 影響する／感情ing the 地元の economy. That's something Henri Gendreau, a reporter at The Roanoke Times, hopes （犯罪の）一味s true for people in Virginia.
He and 同僚s at other papers in the 明言する／公表する started Virginia Is For 新聞記者／雑誌記者s, a gofundme account that has 供給するd 認めるs of $150 to $300 to their struggling 同僚s. Some who have been furloughed themselves are still giving money, Gendreau said.
"A 危機 like this has made people realize how important 地元の journalism is," he said.
