Trump 反抗するd gravity; now 落ちるs 支援する to earth, 未来 TBD

WASHINGTON (AP) - Donald Trump, who 反抗するd political gravity with his 驚くべき/特命の/臨時の rise from reality 星/主役にする and 実業家 to the 大統領/総裁などの地位, has fallen 支援する to earth.

In the end, his flurry of raucous 決起大会/結集させるs, an 前例のない 人出/投票者数 操作/手術 and sheer 軍隊 of will could not 打ち勝つ the reality of his 耐えるing unpopularity and a 激怒(する)ing pandemic that has killed more than 236,000 people in the U.S. and thrown millions out of work.

Yet Trump´s acerbic brand of politics - his Twitter taunts, his vindictive 運動 to punish enemies, his go-it-alone approach to the world - made its 示す across the far reaches of the 政府 and beyond. And his better-than-推定する/予想するd 選挙 業績/成果 against 民主党員 Joe Biden 示唆するs his 衝撃 is likely to resonate for 世代s in politics, 治める/統治するing and 政策, even in 敗北・負かす.

It remains to be seen what Trump ーするつもりであるs to do after his 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 ends on Jan. 20. 退却/保養地 to the ゴルフ course? 開始する,打ち上げる his own television 網状組織? Lay the 基礎 to run again? And how ひどく will he try to contest his 運命/宿命?

"I would 絶対 推定する/予想する the 大統領,/社長 to stay 伴う/関わるd in politics. I would 絶対 put him on the short 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) of people who are likely to run in 2024," Trump´s former 長,指導者 of staff, Mick Mulvaney, said in an online interview with the 学校/設ける of International & European 事件/事情/状勢s. "He doesn´t like losing."

Trump 保持するs the megaphone of his Twitter account, a far-reaching Fox News 壇・綱領・公約 and the unflinching 支援 of his loyal base of 支持者s, who may never 受託する his 敗北・負かす after he spent months 主張するing there was no way he could legitimately lose and even 誤って (人命などを)奪う,主張するd premature victory.

On Saturday, Trump 拒絶する/低下するd to 譲歩する to 大統領-elect Biden, instead 約束ing 明示していない 合法的な challenges to try to overturn the 結果 of the race.

Until a 後継者 現れるs to lead 共和国の/共和党のs - likely not until the 決意/決議 of the 2024 共和国の/共和党の 最初の/主要な - Trump remains the de facto 長,率いる of a party that he has reshaped in his image.

"Even in 敗北・負かす, Donald Trump has 越えるd 期待s and helped other 共和国の/共和党のs do the same," said GOP 顧問 Michael Steel, who has worked on (ワシントンの)連邦議会議事堂 Hill and for (選挙などの)運動をするs. "He will remain a powerful 軍隊 within the party."

Still, Trump´s loss is likely to 誘発する a reckoning over how much of Trumpism the party should embrace going 今後, 特に given that 共和国の/共和党のs could 保持する 支配(する)/統制する of the 上院 and won 付加 seats in the House.

Had Biden won in a blowout, that would have put "勝利,勝つd at the 支援する of a lot of 共和国の/共和党のs who said character counts and the 共和国の/共和党の Party should never put its 約束 into someone who 押し進めるd 境界s liked Donald Trump," said former White House 圧力(をかける) 長官 Ari Fleischer, who served under former 大統領 George W. Bush.

But because it was closer, he 予報するd the party would likely "continue to be wracked with a 分裂(する) between insiders and 部外者s, between the 設立 and the Trump 支持者s who fault the 設立. And the soon-to-be former 大統領,/社長´s 役割 will be a 抱擁する question 示す because if he decides to stay active, にもかかわらず the の近くに loss, he remains powerful and 効果的な, 特に for 共和国の/共和党のs."

In the 合間, it remains 不明瞭な whether Trump will 受託する the results of the 選挙 as he spends the next three months as a lame duck 大統領,/社長.

Those who know him 井戸/弁護士席 say there is little chance he will go 静かに into the night.

"When Donald Trump loses there will never be a 平和的な 移行 to 力/強力にする," said Trump´s longtime lawyer and fixer-turned-critic Michael Cohen. He 予報するd Trump would do everything in his 力/強力にする to (人命などを)奪う,主張する the 選挙 was "stolen from him" by 民主党員s or other 軍隊s, just as Trump tried to (種を)蒔く discord as the 投票(する)s were 存在 counted.

Cohen said Trump was also likely aware that after losing the 大統領/総裁などの地位 he might "be served with a plethora of 訴訟s, both 連邦の and 明言する/公表する." Trump is already 直面するing 訴訟s that 告発する/非難する him of 性の 強襲,強姦 and defamation, and his Trump Organization's 財政/金融s are 存在 調査/捜査するd by New York's 弁護士/代理人/検事 general.

Barbara Res, a longtime Trump associate who recently wrote a 調書をとる/予約する about her experience working with him, 推測するd the 大統領,/社長 might leave the country before Biden´s 就任(式)/開始 and perhaps 追求する his own マスコミ empire.

"He could put on whatever he wants. He could say whatever he wants. It´s almost like having Twitter 爆発する into everything else," she said.

関わりなく what he does, Douglas Brinkley, a professor of history at Rice University, said Trump would likely go 負かす/撃墜する as "an aberration in U.S. political history."

"One-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 大統領,/社長s are rare. There´s a 広大な/多数の/重要な advantage to 存在 an 現職の. And Trump squandered it," he said, arguing that Trump would likely be seen as "an 謀反の 人物/姿/数字," even though 25% of the American public "will always see Donald Trump as their Rambo an d John Wayne 人物/姿/数字 連合させるd."

As for the 未来 for 共和国の/共和党のs, Steel said the party would likely look to leaders who 連合させる elements of Trump´s 人民党員 協議事項 with 政策s that 控訴,上告 to a broader 列 of the 選挙民.

"The challenge will be identifying the popular, 持続する, and practical parts of his 協議事項 and marrying them to 政策s and arguments that 控訴,上告 to the broader 選挙民 that the party will need to 勝利,勝つ at the 国家の level in the 未来," he said.

Under Trump, the 共和国の/共和党の Party fully embraced the 人民党員 wave 始める,決める in 動議 by the Tea Party 反逆者/反逆するs in earlier years, 転換ing its 焦点(を合わせる) from 自由貿易 and trickle-負かす/撃墜する 経済的なs to 貿易(する) wars and an isolationist 外交政策.

His rise broke open a new path to the 大統領/総裁などの地位, driven more by 軍隊 of personality than 政策, that echoed even as he lost the 選挙(人)の College 投票(する). His nativist message and stoking of "culture wars" 証明するd the 力/強力にする of the politics of 分割 and 急いでd a generational political 再編成.

While he 深くするd his reach with white 田舎の and working-class 投票者s with his 経済的な and racial grievance-stoking, he also turned off college-educated 投票者s in the cities and 郊外s with his いつかs crass rhetoric and endless tweets.

Still, many 共和国の/共和党のs believed he would have won reelection had it not been for the coronavirus pandemic and a 普及した belief の中で 投票者s that he mishandled it.

Some 最高の,を越す GOP leaders believe that while いわゆる "Never Trumpers" may celebrate the 大統領,/社長´s 敗北・負かす, it is ありそうもない 共和国の/共和党のs will be able to repudiate him 完全に, given how his 姿勢s on 貿易(する), 移民/移住 and 外交政策 have resonated with 投票者s and how の近くに he (機の)カム to clinching a second 勝利,勝つ.

It remains 不明瞭な, too, whether those who have flocked to the party because of Trump will remain engaged once he is no longer on the ticket.

The race for the 2024 共和国の/共和党の 指名/任命 has already 静かに begun behind the scenes. A wide 範囲 of 候補者s are 実験(する)ing the waters, from 穏健なs like Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, to firebrands like Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton and former Trump 公式の/役人s like ex-South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Trump´s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., has become a particular favorite with the 大統領,/社長´s loyal 支持者s on the (選挙などの)運動をする 追跡する, meaning the Trump 指名する could 耐える.

Fleischer said the party would likely be looking for someone with the blunt outspoken 発言する/表明する of an 部外者 who would at the same time 差し控える from going "so far that your tweets 押し進める people away that want to be for you."

Many of Trump´s 支持者s see his 影響(力) continuing.

"We started something that is going to go on for 世代s," said Chris Haluck, 56, looking out over a (人が)群がる of thousands at a 最近の Trump 決起大会/結集させる in Pennsylvania that she´d …に出席するd with her 17-year-old daughter.
