ROME (AP) - The Vatican´s 犯罪の 法廷 on Thursday 罪人／有罪を宣告するd the former 長，率いる of the Vatican bank and his lawyer of embezzling millions of euros in proceeds from the sales of 宗教上の See-owned real 広い地所, and 宣告，判決d them to nearly nine years in 刑務所，拘置所 each.
The 法廷，裁判所 also awarded the bank, known as the 学校／設ける of 宗教的な 作品, some 23 million euros in restitution from money 掴むd from the 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑うs' スイスの and Vatican bank accounts that were frozen during the 調査.
検察官，検事s had （刑事）被告 former bank 長，指導者 Angelo Caloia, 81, and his 97-year-old lawyer, Gabriele Liuzzo, of 使い込み，横領, misappropriation of 基金s and money-laundering between 2001 and 2008, when the bank sold off a sizeable chunk of its real 広い地所 資産s.
The scam 恐らく 伴う／関わるd the 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑うs selling 29 different 所有物／資産／財産s in Rome and どこかよそで at under-value prices to 沖合いの／海外の companies that then resold them at market 率s, with the 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑うs pocketing the difference.
法廷，裁判所-任命するd 専門家s 概算の the bank lost some 34 million euros in 可能性のある 歳入 予定 to the under-valuing of the sales, and 決定するd the 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑うs siphoned off 19 million euros for themselves, the Vatican 圧力（をかける） office said.
Caloia's lawyers, Domenico Pulitan? and Rosa Palavera, said they would 控訴，上告 and 公式文書，認めるd that their （弁護士の）依頼人 had been acquitted of the most serious 告訴，告発s 関心ing "the 大多数 of the 所有物／資産／財産s."

The bank´s former 経営者／支配人, Lelio Scaletti, had been 巻き込むd in the scam but died during the 調査. Once the 裁判，公判 opened, 検察官，検事s 追加するd Liuzzo´s son as a 被告; he too was 罪人／有罪を宣告するd and 宣告，判決d to five years and two months in 刑務所，拘置所.
The 被告s 持続するd their innocence and had sought to call as 証言，証人／目撃するs former Vatican 長官s of 明言する／公表する and 枢機けい／主要なs who sat on the bank´s oversight 委員会, in a 調印する they ーするつもりであるd to 論証する that the 枢機けい／主要なs were aware of the sales and 認可するd them.
It wasn't すぐに （疑いを）晴らす how the 宣告，判決s, which 含むd a 連合させるd 罰金 of 28,500 euros の中で the three 被告s, would be carried out or whether the two main defenda nts would 現実に serve 刑務所，拘置所 time given their ages.
