まっただ中に glow open day, cloud ぼんやり現れるs over MLB All-星/主役にする Game

ATLANTA (AP) - まっただ中に the glow of baseball's 開始 day, there is a cloud ぼんやり現れるing over the All-星/主役にする Game still more than three months away.

Georgia´s new 投票(する)ing 法律 - which critics say 不公平に 限界s 接近 to the 投票(する) box, 特に for people of color - has 誘発するd calls from as high as the White House to consider moving the midsummer classic out of Atlanta.

The game is 始める,決める for July 13 at Truist Park, the 勇敢に立ち向かうs´ 41,000-seat stadium in 郊外の Cobb 郡. It would be the third time Atlanta serves as host, having 以前 held the event in 1972 and 2000.

One of baseball´s biggest 星/主役にするs, 勇敢に立ち向かうs first baseman and 統治するing 国家の League 最高殊勲選手 Freddie Freeman, 重さを計るd in on the 意見の不一致を生じる 問題/発行する Thursday, just a few hours before Atlanta opened the season in Philadelphia.

Freeman 示唆するd that the game should remain at Truist Park, but be used as a 壇・綱領・公約 to 促進する 投票(する)ing 権利s.

"Why not?" he said. "What´s happened in the last couple of months has already gone through" the 明言する/公表する 立法機関 and been 調印するd into 法律 last week by Gov. Brian Kemp.

"Why not use what we already have here as a 壇・綱領・公約 in the city and the 明言する/公表する it's been passed through," Freeman 追加するd. "I think it would be better to keep it (in Atlanta) and use it as a 壇・綱領・公約."

Others have taken a different tack.

Everyone from 大統領 Biden to Major League Baseball Commissioner 略奪する Manfred to the 長,率いる of baseball´s powerful players union, Tony Clark, 説 that moving the game to another city should be on the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する.

Biden told ESPN he would "堅固に support" pulling the game out of Atlanta because of a 法律 he descr ibed as "Jim Crow on steroids."

Two of Atlanta's sports team owners also seemed to 表明する their 対立 to the 法律 in 声明s that bemoaned 制限s on 投票(する)ing 接近, though neither 特に 特記する/引用するd the new 法令.

"Every 発言する/表明する and every 投票(する) 事柄s and should be heard through our democratic 過程 in Georgia," said Arthur Blank, owner of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and Major League サッカー's Atlanta 部隊d. "We should be working to make 投票(する)ing easier, not harder for every 適格の 国民.'

Tony Ressler, owner of the NBA's Atlanta 強硬派s, 公式文書,認めるd that his team was the first in country to open its 円形競技場 as an 早期に 投票(する)ing 場所/位置 for last year's 選挙s. He said the team remains "committed to 是認するing steps that 促進する equality and encourage 参加 by all who 捜し出す to cast a 投票(する)."

In the 直面する of repeated 主張s by former 大統領 Trump that Georgia's 選挙 was fraudulent, the 共和国の/共和党の-controlled 立法機関 認可するd a 広範囲にわたる new 法律 that would, の中で other things, place new ID 必要物/必要条件s on 不在投票 by mail and 禁じる 手渡すing out food and water to 投票者s standing in line.

支持者s of the 法律 have said it 単に 確実にするs 選挙 正直さ and stamps out 可能性のある 詐欺. Others have said the 動機s are more 悪意のある after an 選挙 that 登録(する)d nearly 5 million 投票(する)s with no 信頼できる 証拠 of serious 悪事を働くこと.

Sports has long been a conduit for 促進するing social change, a movement that only grown over the past year with America's 新たにするd reckoning over racial 不正.

Often, it 伴う/関わるs major events with hefty 経済的な clout.

In the 早期に 1990s, the 最高の Bowl was moved out of Arizona after the 明言する/公表する failed to make ツバメ Luther King Jr. Day an 公式の/役人 holiday. Once the 明言する/公表する 逆転するd course, the game was held in Arizona in 1996 and will return again for the fourth time in 2023.

For years, the NCAA 閉めだした 持つ/拘留するing its 選手権s in 明言する/公表するs where the Confederate 戦う/戦い 旗 was 公式に recogn ized. The last of those 明言する/公表するs, Mississippi, 可決する・採択するd a new 旗 in January that 除去するd a 旗,新聞一面トップの大見出し/大々的に報道する many consider a 痕跡 of slavery.

The 2017 NBA All-星/主役にする Game was stripped from Charlotte because of 反対s to a North Carolina 法律 that 限られた/立憲的な anti-差別 保護s for lesbian, gay and transgender people. After the いわゆる "bathroom 法案" was 廃止するd, the NBA brought its showcase event to Charlotte in 2019.

While 非常に/多数の GOP-治める/統治するd 明言する/公表するs around the country have 押し進めるd for new 制限s on 投票(する)ing in the wake of Biden´s victory over Trump, Georgia has become a 雷 棒 for the 問題/発行する because of its pivotal 役割 in the November 選挙.

With the hefty 人出/投票者数 ブイ,浮標d by 早期に and 不在投票, Biden won a 狭くする victory over Trump in the Peach 明言する/公表する - the first time Georgia has been won by a Democratic 大統領の 候補者 since 1992.

Also, the 明言する/公表する´s two 共和国の/共和党の 現職の 上院議員s were 敗北・負かすd by 民主党員s Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, giving their party 効果的な 支配(する)/統制する of the U.S. 上院.

While much of the attention in the sports world has 焦点(を合わせる)d on the All-星/主役にする Game, a civil 権利s organization called on the PGA 小旅行する and the Masters to pull the tournament - the sport's first major 選手権 of the year - out of Georgia by not playing at Augusta 国家の.

The 国家の 黒人/ボイコット 司法(官) 連合 also 勧めるd professional golfers not to 辞退する to play in Georgia until the 法律 is 廃止するd.

The PGA 小旅行する has no 支配(する)/統制する over the Masters. The tournament is run by Augusta 国家の, an 排除的 club that has 以前 直面するd 抗議するs over its one-time 除外 of 黒人/ボイコットs and women from the 会員の地位 rolls. The club ignored the request and carried on with a women's amateur event that leads into next week's Masters.

The PGA 小旅行する 持つ/拘留するs its season finale at East Lake in Atlanta, and it has another tournament in the 落ちる on the Georgia coast at Sea Island.

Another 目だつ women's tournament is 始める,決める to be held in 郊外の Atlanta this summer.

The Women´s PGA 選手権, one of five majors on the LPGA 小旅行する, is scheduled for Atlanta 運動競技の Club on June 24-27.

The PGA of America said in a 声明, "The KPMG Women´s PGA 選手権 is a 共同 between three organizations committed to 多様制, 公正,普通株主権 and 傾向: PGA of America, LPGA and KPMG. Like many (独立の)存在s, we are 監視するing 開発s 関係のある to the new 明言する/公表する 法律制定 on 投票(する)ing 接近. We believe 選挙s should be accessible, fair and 安全な・保証する, and support 幅の広い 投票者 参加."
