Malaysia king 勧めるs 停止（させる） to bickering as he 選ぶs new PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Malaysia´s king called for an end to political bickering at a 会合 Tuesday with party leaders as he began the 過程 of selecting a new 首相 まっただ中に a より悪くするing coronavirus 突発／発生.

The 辞職 of 総理大臣 Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday after いっそう少なく than 18 months in office followed 開始するing public 怒り／怒る over what was 広範囲にわたって perceived as his 政府´s poor 扱うing of the pandemic. Malaysia has one of the world´s highest 感染 率s and deaths per capita, with daily 事例／患者s 違反ing 20,000 this month にもかかわらず a seven-month 明言する／公表する of 緊急 and a lockdown since June.

The king, 暴君 Abdullah 暴君 Ahmad Shah, has 支配するd out a new 総選挙 because many parts of the country are COVID-19 red zones and health 施設s are 不十分な.

Muhyiddin was 任命するd 管理人 首相 until a 後継者 is 設立する.

対立 leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was の中で eight party leaders 召喚するd for a group 会合 at the palace, said the king 勧めるd them to end their bickering. The 君主 強調する／ストレスd that the new leader should not be vindictive and that all parties must 協力する in 取り組むing the pandemic and 生き返らせるing the economy, he said.

"The 問題／発行する here is not about 任命するing a new 首相 but more importantly, his majesty ... 強調する／ストレスd the need to (1)偽造する／(2)徐々に進む a new political landscape that is more 平和的な for the people," Anwar told reporters outside the palace.

All party leaders in Muhyiddin's 同盟 and the 対立 表明するd their opinions during the 会合 and there appeared to be a 合意 to "減少（する） the old style of tired and boring politics and 焦点（を合わせる） on developing the nation," he said.

The king plays a 大部分は 儀式の 役割 but 任命するs the person he believes has 大多数 support of 議会 to be 首相.

Muhyiddin took 力／強力にする in March 2020 after 始めるing the 崩壊（する） of the 改革論者 政府 that won 2018 選挙s. With a かみそり-thin 大多数 in 議会 and an 安定性のない 連合, he became the country´s shortest-判決，裁定 leader.

The king also asked all 国会議員s to 個々に 服従させる／提出する the 指名する of a preferred 候補者 for 首相 by Wednesday.

This is somewhat 類似の to how the king 選ぶd Muhyiddin last year. The 君主 interviewed all 222 国会議員s 個々に, then sought 指名／任命s from party leaders in an arduous 過程. His choice of Muhyiddin was 論争d by the person he 追い出すd, Mahathir Mohamad, and by the 対立.

The 選択 this time will be another 堅い chore for the 君主 because no 連合 持つ／拘留する a 大多数. Anwar's three-party 同盟, the biggest 対立 圏, has 指名するd Anwar but has いっそう少なく than 90 国会議員s, short of the 111 needed for a simple 大多数. That´s also いっそう少なく than the 100 国会議員s believed to have 支援するd Muhyiddin.

Anwar received a 上げる Tuesday when a party from eastern Sabah 明言する／公表する with eight 国会議員s said it would throw its support behind him if he is able to 安全な・保証する enough numbers.

Other 競争相手s 含む former 副 総理大臣 Ismail Sabri from UMNO, the biggest party in Muhyiddin's 同盟 with 38 国会議員s. But he may not get his party's 支援 because he earlier led a 派閥 支援 Muhyiddin against the party's 決定／判定勝ち（する） to pull its support.

地元の マスコミ said another possible 候補者 is Razaleigh Hamzah, an 84-year-old prince who was a former 大蔵大臣. Razaleigh, also a UMNO 国会議員, is seen as a 中立の 候補者 who could 部隊 the party's warring 派閥s.

一方／合間, Mahathir, 96, has called for a 国家の 回復 会議 to be formed and led おもに by professionals to 解決する the country´s 経済的な and health crises.

The Bersih 選挙（人）の 改革（する） group 勧めるd 競争相手s to 追求する political 安定 by 申し込む／申し出ing multiparty governance and institutional 改革（する）s, and not just 行為／行う horse-貿易（する）ing over numbers and positions.

"The endless political machination 予定 to 勝利者-takes-all politics in a de facto hung 議会 for the past one and a half years must now end to enable a more 効果的な governance of health and economy. The new 総理大臣 must quickly 会を召集する a special 会合 and （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する a 動議 of 信用／信任 in himself to 証明する his 大多数," it said in a 声明.

It 警告するd that a short-sighted and self-serving gove rnment would be punished by 投票者s in the next 選挙.
