California 解任する could 上げる Newsom's clout for 2022

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The 解任する 選挙 that once 脅すd to derail California Gov. Gavin Newsom's political 未来 has instead given it new life, 申し込む/申し出ing a rare midterm 信任投票 that could 燃料 an ambitious 法律を制定する 協議事項 featuring new coronavirus ワクチン 委任統治(領)s, 住宅 for the homeless and health 保険 for people living in the country 不法に.

Nearly 64% of 投票者s in the 解任する 選挙 投票(する)d to keep Newsom in office, によれば 早期に returns, giving him a larger 利ざや of victory so far compared to his 2018 選挙.

On Wednesday, one day after 生き残るing the 解任する that a few months ago had him sweating, Newsom 示すd he planned to go even bigger in 2022 as he 長,率いるs into his reelection (選挙などの)運動をする.

"When you 直面する a 解任する ... it sharpens your 焦点(を合わせる) about time," Newsom said. "Things that you may have looked at on the horizon and said, `You know over the next two, three years, we want to get this done,´ you start looking very 異なって and say, `What´s possible in the next two to three months?´"

Newsom was not afraid to take big swings in his first 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語, often eschewing the 穏健な 傾向s of some of his 前任者s. While he hasn't always 満足させるd the most 自由主義の wing of the Democratic Party, he has relished 治める/統治するing what he calls a "nation 明言する/公表する" given its status as the nation's most populous.

In his first three years in office, Newsom 調印するd 法律制定 that 許すd college 競技者s to get paid, gave 解放する/自由な lunch to every public school student and 問題/発行するd (n)役員/(a)執行力のある orders 目的(とする)ing to 禁止(する) the sale of new gas-力/強力にするd cars by 2035 and end all oil extraction in the 明言する/公表する by 2045.

This year, he has already 問題/発行するd orders 要求するing all of the 明言する/公表する's 概略で 2.2 million health care 労働者s to get vaccinated to keep their 職業s. He's also 要求するd all 明言する/公表する 労働者s and public school teachers and staff to either get vaccinated or 服従させる/提出する to 週刊誌 実験(する)ing.

大統領 Joe Biden has already ordered large 雇用者s to 要求する their 労働者s be vaccinated. But some 民主党員s in California's 立法機関 want to go その上の by 適用するing that 基準 to companies with より小数の than 100 従業員s and to schoolchildren old enough to be immunized.

明言する/公表する Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks, a 民主党員 from Oakland who is 準備するing to introduce ワクチン 立証 法律制定, said the Newsom (選挙などの)運動をする didn't 持つ/拘留する 支援する from 説 "ワクチン 委任統治(領)" in (選挙などの)運動をする 広告s.

"And the 投票者s 答える/応じるd to it. I see that, I think my fellow 立法議員s see that," she said. "We can't be 脅迫してさせるd by a very small group that live in baseless 共謀 theories."

Some 地元の 政府s are already doing this. San Francisco 要求するs proof of 十分な ワクチン接種 for a host of indoor activities, 含むing dining inside and visiting the gym. Los Angeles 郡 will 器具/実施する a 類似の 政策 for 顧客s and 労働者s at 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s and nightclubs starting next month. The Los Angeles 統一するd School 地区 will soon 要求する all 適格の students to be inoculated.

Newsom said Wednesday that he supports those 決定/判定勝ち(する)s and 勧めるd other 地元の 政府s to do the same thing but he's 満足させるd with 地元の 支配するs 権利 now, though he said there are "conversations" happening about a statewide ワクチン 委任統治(領) for public school students.

The pandemic has also 強めるd 成果/努力s to 増加する the number of people who have health 保険 in California for 最初の/主要な and 予防の care. The UC Berkeley Labor 中心 見積(る)s nearly 3.2 million Californians won't have health 保険 next year, the largest 百分率 of them 移民,移住(する)s who are living in the country 不法に.

Newsom's 予算 this year 申し込む/申し出s 政府-基金d health 保険 to low-income adults 50 and over who are living in the country 不法に, but some 民主党員s want him to 拡大する ニュース報道 to all low-income adults, 関わりなく their 移民/移住 status.

"I believe this year was a 重要な 負かす/撃墜する 支払い(額) for us to work toward 全世界の/万国共通の ニュース報道," said Assemblyman Joaquin Arambula, a 民主党員 from Fresno who 議長,司会を務めるs the 予算 小委員会 that 監督するs health care spending.

Newsom 示すd Wednesday that he 計画(する)s to 新たにする his 焦点(を合わせる) on 住宅 the homeless. He 充てるd his entire 2020 明言する/公表する of the 明言する/公表する 演説(する)/住所 to that 問題/発行する, but the pandemic soon 攻撃する,衝突する and quickly 転換d his 焦点(を合わせる) to public health. Still, Newsom pointed to his 行政 getting 6,000 住宅 部隊s for the homeless online in only five-and-a-half months, a remarkable pace made possible by the 緊急 of the pandemic.

He 追加するd: "That's now 焦点(を合わせる)d my energy to say what more can we do in that space with that same sense of 緊急 on 気候 change, on 問題/発行するs of affordability of 住宅?"

前進するing those 問題/発行するs will 要求する reaching 合意 の中で 民主党員s who 支配する the 明言する/公表する 立法機関, a 仕事 that's not as 平易な as California's 進歩/革新的な 評判 would 示唆する.

But Michael Bustamante, a Democratic 顧問 who worked for former Democratic Gov. Gray Davis during the 解任する (選挙などの)運動をする that led to his 2003 追放/剥奪, said Newsom should not 持つ/拘留する 支援する.

"When you have a 近づく-death experience, it seems to me that people tend to become far more appreciative of the life that they have," he said. Newsom "almost has nothing to lose and everything to 伸び(る) by thinking big, by 存在 積極的な."
