Hungarians 長,率いる to 投票s in 影をつくる/尾行する of war in ウクライナ共和国
投票s opened across Hungary 早期に on Sunday as 投票者s 直面するd a choice: take a chance on a diverse, Western-looking 連合 of 野党s, or 認める 国家主義者 総理大臣 Viktor Orban a 新たにするd 委任統治(領) with a fourth 連続した 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 in office.
The contest is 推定する/予想するd to be the closest since Mr Orban (機の)カム to 力/強力にする in 2010, thanks to Hungary’s six main 野党s putting aside 観念的な differences to form a 部隊d 前線 against his 右翼 Fidesz party.
最近の 投票s 示唆する a tight race but give Fidesz a slight lead, making it likely that 決めかねて 投票者s will 決定する the 勝利者 in Sunday’s 投票(する).
野党s and international 観察者/傍聴者s have pointed out 構造上の 妨害s to 敗北・負かすing Mr Orban by 選挙(人)の means, 最高潮の場面ing 普及(する) プロの/賛成の-政府 bias in the public マスコミ, 支配 of 商業の news 出口s by Orban 同盟(する)s, and a ひどく gerrymandered 選挙(人)の 地図/計画する.
However, にもかかわらず what it calls an uneven playing field, the six-party 対立 連合, 部隊d For Hungary, has asked 投票者s to support its 成果/努力s to introduce a new political culture in the country based on pluralistic governance and mended 同盟s with the EU and Nato.
The 連合’s 候補者 for 首相, Peter Marki-Zay, has 約束d to bring an end to what he 主張するs is はびこる 政府 汚職, and to raise living 基準s by 増加するing 基金ing to Hungary’s 病んでいる health care and education systems.
Mr Orban ? a 猛烈な/残忍な critic of 移民/移住, LGBTQ 権利s and “EU bureaucrats” ? has 獲得するd the 賞賛 of 右翼 国家主義者s across Europe and North America.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson broadcast from Budapest for a week last summer, where he extolled the 首相’s 強行路線 approach to 移民/移住 and the かみそり wire 盗品故買者 he 築くd along Hungary’s southern 国境.
A proponent of what he calls “illiberal 僕主主義”, Mr Orban has taken many of Hungary’s democra tic 会・原則s under his 支配(する)/統制する, and 描写するd himself as a defender of European Christendom against イスラム教徒 migrants, progressivism and the “LGBTQ ロビー”.
In his たびたび(訪れる) 戦う/戦いs with the EU, of which Hungary is a member, he has portrayed the 27-member 圏 as an oppressive 政権 reminiscent of the Soviet occupiers that 支配するd Hungary for more than 40 years in the 20th century, and has bucked 試みる/企てるs to draw some of his 政策s into line with EU 支配するs.
Those 政策s, 含むing what critics 見解(をとる) as 違反s of the 権利s of LGBTQ people, misuse of EU 基金s and 発揮するing undue 支配(する)/統制する over Hungary’s マスコミ, have put him at 半端物s with Brussels and resulted in billions of euros in EU 基金ing 存在 withheld from his 政府.
While Mr Orban had earlier (選挙などの)運動をするd on 意見の不一致を生じる social and cultural 問題/発行するs, the トン of the (選挙などの)運動をする was 劇的な 転換d by Russia’s 侵略 of 隣人ing ウクライナ共和国 in February.
While the 対立 called for Hungary to support its 戦闘の準備を整えた 隣人 and 行為/法令/行動する with its EU and Nato partners, Mr Orban, a longtime 同盟(する) of ロシアの 大統領 Vladimir Putin, has 主張するd that Hungary must remain 中立の and 持続する its の近くに 経済的な 関係 with Moscow, 含むing continuing to 輸入する ロシアの gas and oil.
At his final (選挙などの)運動をする 決起大会/結集させる on Friday, he told a (人が)群がる of 支持者s that 供給(する)ing ウクライナ共和国 with 武器s ? something that Hungary, alone の中で ウクライナ共和国’s EU 隣人s, has 辞退するd to do ? would make the country a 軍の 的, and that 許可/制裁ing ロシアの energy 輸入するs would 手足を不自由にする/(物事を)損なう the economy.
“This isn’t our war, we have to stay out of it,” he said.
対立 leader Mr Marki-Zay has (刑事)被告 Mr Orban of taking Mr Putin’s 味方する in the 衝突, and said the leader’s approach to the war has “left him alone” in the European community.
“This struggle is now bigger than us,” Mr Marki-Zay told 支持者s at a (選挙などの)運動をする event in Budapest on Saturday. “The war in ウクライナ共和国 gave this struggle special meaning.”
