修理 Shop host Jay Blades made an MBE at Windsor 城
The 修理 Shop host Jay Blades has spoken of his surprise at the show’s 人気 as he was made an MBE at Windsor 城.
Blades, a furniture restorer and designer, was given the honour by the Prince of むちの跡s on Tuesday for services to （手先の）技術 and in 承認 of his work 促進するing 遺産 （手先の）技術 and 復古／返還 in the UK.
The 正規の／正選手 favourite on the BBC show ? which sees members of the public bringing in worn out family heirlooms to be 回復するd by a team of 専門家s ? said he never 推定する／予想するd that the programme “would become so big”.
Blades has starred in the programme since it started in 2017.
He said: “I knew it was special, because you wouldn’t have all of those different disciplines in the same building. You wouldn’t have a ceramic next to a 罰金 art next to woodwork and a clock restorer, you just wouldn’t have that.”
He said that the 残り／休憩（する） of the team were “over the moon” for him after receiving his MBE.
“They’ve all said: ‘Do we have to 屈服する, do we have to curtsy to you?’ and stuff like that.
“I’ve just said there’s one request: as long as they can bring me a 薄焼きパン／素焼陶器 with my cup of tea, that’s all I want,” he joked.
The presenter, when asked whether a particular 反対する from the show stood out to him, said it was like “選ぶing your favourite child”.
“All of them are really special, all the individuals that bring an item in, all the items are dear to them and all the memories are so unique that you could never 選ぶ one I don’t think.”
Blades, 52, 強調する／ストレスd the importance of （手先の）技術 as part of a 維持できる 未来, something which he spoke about with Charles as received the honour.
“It’s all about sustainability, it’s all about teaching the next 世代 as to what they should be doing and what they can do, because some people think （手先の）技術 isn’t accessible to them,” he said.
“I want （手先の）技術 to be accessible to everybody, from the poor 味方する of town to the rich 味方する of town, so everybody can 接近 it.”
Blades left school at 15, and has 始める，決める up a charity encouraging young people who struggle academically to get 伴う／関わるd in practical 職業s, such as 復古／返還 and （手先の）技術.
He is also an 外交官／大使 for the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship 信用, which 供給するs people with up to £18,000 in 基金ing to 熟考する／考慮する a 伝統的な （手先の）技術.
