Amelie Mauresmo sorry for 説 women´s tennis 持つ/拘留するs いっそう少なく 控訴,上告 than men´s

French Open boss Amelie Mauresmo has apologised for 説 women’s tennis had いっそう少なく 控訴,上告 than the men’s game.

The Roland Garros tournament director made the comments as she explained why only one of the 10 matches chosen for the night 開会/開廷/会期s at this year’s tournament featured women.

Mauresmo, a former Wimbledon 支持する/優勝者, had said: “In this 時代 that we are in 権利 now ? and as a woman, a former woman’s player, I don’t feel bad or 不公平な 説 that ? you have more attraction, 控訴,上告 (in) general, for the men’s matches.”

World number one Iga Swiatek said the comments were “disappointing and surprising”.

And speaking to the Tennis Channel on Thursday, Mauresmo said: “First of all the comments that I made were taken out of the wider picture, out of the 状況.

“And I want to say sorry to the players that really felt bad about what I said.

“Again, I think the people who know me, who’ve known me on and off the 法廷,裁判所, throughout my career, throughout everything that I’ve done, know that I’m a big 闘士,戦闘機 for equal 権利s and women’s tennis, women in general.”

Mauresmo 主張するs men’s matches were given 優先 in the showpiece night 開会/開廷/会期 because women’s matches are shorter, meaning punters might feel shortchanged.

She 追加するd: “関心ing the scheduling, 特に for the night matches, my say was that because we have one match only it’s really tougher to schedule a woman’s match, because we have to take into consideration the length. I feel it’s the fair 肉親,親類d of thing to do for the ticket 支えるもの/所有者s.

“Next year, ーするために be able to be more fair to the women players ? to both 部類s 現実に ? it would be good to maybe have the 可能性 to put on two matches, or maybe a women’s match 加える a (テニスなどの)ダブルス match, to try to find a better 解答 to be fair to everyone.”
