Grenfell 生存者 恐れるs 悲劇 may become `precursor to something bigger´

A Grenfell Tower 解雇する/砲火/射撃 生存者 has said he is worried the 悲劇 may become “the precursor to something bigger” because of the 欠如(する) of 進歩 in 器具/実施するing change.

Tiago Alves, his father Miguel, mother Fatima and younger sister Ines escaped from their home on the 13th 床に打ち倒す in the 早期に 行う/開催する/段階s of the deadly 炎 on June 14, 2017.

Mr Alves woke his sleeping children and 警報d other 居住(者)s on their 床に打ち倒す to get out of the building that would 結局 become (海,煙などが)飲み込むd in the smoke and 炎上s that (人命などを)奪う,主張するd 72 lives.

Speaking at their family home in Brent, west London, Mr and Mrs Alves and their son said their main 焦点(を合わせる) is to 確実にする nobody else loses their lives or experiences the 苦痛 the Grenfell community went through.

They 表明するd their 関心 the 政府 is yet to 器具/実施する 重要な 推薦s from the public 調査, such as placing a 合法的な 義務 on building owners to 輪郭(を描く) Personal 緊急 避難/引き上げ 計画(する)s (PEEPs) for 居住(者)s who cannot self-避難させる.

Last month, the 政府 said it planned to keep the 議論の的になる “stay put” 政策, meaning 居住(者)s of most buildings should wait for 救助(する) services rather than leaving in the event of a 解雇する/砲火/射撃.

In a 協議 文書, it said it believed the cost of 可決する・採択するing PEEPs would not be “proportionate” and it would not be “practical” or “安全な” to 器具/実施する.

Tiago Alves, 25, told the PA news 機関: “A lot of the people who managed to 生き残る were people who managed to get out 早期に because they ignored ‘stay put’ advice.

“And so… I’m gobsmacked at the fact that we’re still having this conversation five years on.”

Mrs Alves, 52, 追加するd: “They won’t learn from their mistakes.

Tiago Alves continued: “Why do we have to fight so hard for this? We’re not 専門家s ? we’re (死が)奪い去るd and 生存者s.

“We experienced what we experienced that night. Our 外傷/ショック and our experience should be useful f or something, for 政府 to 現実に 器具/実施する changes that need to be made.

“Look at Lakanal House ? it happened, there was a 解雇する/砲火/射撃, that was the precursor to Grenfell. I’m worried if Grenfell will become the precursor to something bigger.”

Six people died and 20 were 負傷させるd in the Lakanal House 解雇する/砲火/射撃, which occurred in 2009 in Camberwell, south-east London.

The first 報告(する)/憶測 from the Grenfell 調査 設立する lessons from the Lakanal 解雇する/砲火/射撃 had not been learned by the time of the Grenfell 災害 eight years later.

Tiago Alves said he was 以前 someone who 信用d in 当局, but now it “almost feels like that 信用 is 完全に broken”.

The family said they would like to ask Communities 長官 Michael Gove whether he would stay put if a 解雇する/砲火/射撃 broke out in a 封鎖する of flats where he was living.

Miguel Alves, 54, said he believes “nobody will stay put because they are afraid”.

On Tuesday ? the fifth 周年記念日 of the 解雇する/砲火/射撃 ? the family will join other 生存者s and (死が)奪い去るd at the base of the tower for a multi-約束 service and 花冠 laying.

Tiago Alves said he will spend the day remembering those who died, 同様に as in 感謝 for everyone who has been “by our 味方する, supporting us” and who “gave us the ability to speak out to make sure something like this can never happen again”.

He said: “Whatever I try and do, I try and do it to make those who aren’t able to be with us proud.

“That’s one of the things that keeps me wanting to continue the (選挙などの)運動をする, because, at the end of the day, they can’t come 支援する.

“So the only way that we can do them 司法(官) is to continue our fight, to continue our (選挙などの)運動をするing, and continue 存在 the best possible 見解/翻訳/版s of ourselves so that change can be 制定するd ? whether that be through 犯罪の 司法(官), whether it be through the 調査, whether that be through 法律を制定する change.”

His father 追加するd: “We can save lives for the 未来, I think that is the most important th ing for me.”

A 政府 spokeswoman said: “Our 解雇する/砲火/射撃 改革(する)s will go その上の than ever before to 保護する 攻撃を受けやすい people as we are 決定するd to 改善する the safety of 居住(者)s whose ability to self-避難させる may be 妥協d.

“That is why we have 開始する,打ち上げるd a new public 協議 捜し出すing 見解(をとる)s on an 代案/選択肢 一括 of 率先s, building on the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) 獲得するd from the Personal 緊急 避難/引き上げ 計画(する)s 協議, that 高める the safety of those 居住(者)s.”
