Total number of people crossing English Channel in small boats passes 18,000

The total number of people who have crossed the English Channel so far this year has passed 18,000, 省 of Defence 人物/姿/数字s 示唆する.

On Saturday 337 people crossed the Channel in 10 small boats, bringing the total number of people brought to the UK this year to 18,108.

The milestone was broken just five days after 696 people were 救助(する)d by 国境 軍隊 and brought to shore on Monday, the busiest day for Channel crossings so far this year.

PA 分析 of the MoD’s 一時的に 人物/姿/数字s shows 1,709 people have been brought to the UK so far in August.

That is more than half of the 3,053 people 救助(する)d in August 2021.

The 広大な 大多数 were brought to shore in Dover, however many, 含むing those brought to shore on August 1, were taken to the Port of Ramsgate 予定 to 関心s about congestion around the Dover port 原因(となる)d by freight and holidaymaker traffic.

The busiest week for crossings so far in 2022 was the week to April 19 when 2,076 people made the dangerous 旅行 across the Channel.

However it is likely crossings will continue into next week, with the Met Office 確認するing warm 天候 and 静める 勝利,勝つd are 始める,決める to continue in the south east of England.

Fig ures show that 12,840 people have made the crossing since Priti Patel 発表するd the Rwanda 取引,協定 on April 14.

The news comes after a 報告(する)/憶測 from the 国際連合 High Commissioner for 難民s and the British Red Cross, published on Wednesday, 設立する that 批判的な gaps in the UK 亡命 system mean people 捜し出すing safety, 含むing those 逃げるing modern slavery, may be at 危険 of 可能性のある 開発/利用.

The 報告(する)/憶測 結論するs: “Straightforward changes to the 亡命 過程 would 減ずる these 危険s of 開発/利用 by putting safety at the heart of the 亡命 system.”

The Home Office said it is considering the findings of the 報告(する)/憶測.

A 広報担当者 said: “We take the safety and wellbeing of thousands of people in 亡命 accommodation support 極端に 本気で and are committed to 確実にするing that individuals are 保護するd from the heinous 罪,犯罪 of modern slavery.

“Where we 嫌疑者,容疑者/疑う an 亡命 探検者 is in danger or at 危険 of 開発/利用, we will take the appropriate 活動/戦闘, such as working with the police or supporting someone through the 国家の referral 機械装置.

“We would 勧める any 亡命 探検者 who may be in trouble to 報告(する)/憶測 it すぐに.

“Our new 計画(する) for 移民/移住 will 直す/買収する,八百長をする the broken 亡命 system, enabling us to 認める 保護 to those する権利を与えるd to it and to 除去する those with no 権利 to be here more quickly.”
