Colombia´s first left-wing 大統領,/社長 ready to take reins of 力/強力にする

Colombia’s first 左派の(人) 大統領,/社長 will be sworn into office on Sunday, 約束ing to fight 不平等 and 先触れ(する)ing a turning point in the history of a country haunted by a long war between the 政府 and ゲリラ兵 groups.

上院議員 Gustavo Petro, a former member of Colombia’s M-19 ゲリラ兵 group, won the 大統領の 選挙 in June by (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域ing 保守党s that 申し込む/申し出d 穏健な changes to the market-friendly economy, but failed to connect with 投票者s 失望させるd by rising poverty and 暴力/激しさ against human 権利s leaders and 環境の groups in 田舎の areas.

Mr Petro is part of a growing group of 左派の(人) 政治家,政治屋s and political 部外者s who have been winning 選挙s in Latin America since the pandemic broke out and 傷つける 現職のs who struggled with its 経済的な aftershocks.

The ex-反逆者/反逆する’s victory was also exceptional for Colombia, where 投票者s had been 歴史的に 気が進まない to 支援する 左派の(人) 政治家,政治屋s who were often (刑事)被告 of 存在 soft on 罪,犯罪 or 連合した with ゲリラ兵s.

A 2016 peace 取引,協定 between Colombia’s 政府 and the 革命の 武装した 軍隊s of Colombia turned much of the 焦点(を合わせる) of 投票者s away from the violent 衝突s playing out in 田舎の areas and gave prominence to problems like poverty and 汚職, fuelling the 人気 of 左派の(人) parties in 国家の 選挙s.

Mr Petro, 62, has 約束d to 取り組む Colombia’s social and 経済的な 不平等s by 上げるing spending on anti-poverty programs and 増加するing 投資 in 田舎の areas.

He has 述べるd US-led antinarcotics 政策s, such as the 軍隊d eradication of 違法な coca 刈るs, as a “big 失敗”.

But he has said he would like to work with Washington “as equals”, building 計画/陰謀s to 戦闘 気候 change or bring 組織/基盤/下部構造 to 田舎の areas where many 農業者s say coca leaves are the only viable 刈る.
