LGBT fans to ボイコット(する) World Cup in Qatar over country´s 姿勢 on the community

LGBT football fan groups have said that their members will be ボイコット(する)ing the World Cup in Qatar “as a 声明 of 原則” 予定 to Fifa’s “deafening silence” surrounding Qatar’s 治療 of the LGBT community.

The World Cup is to take place in Qatar between November 20 and December 18 and many LGBT football fan groups have 表明するd 関心s over the country’s 態度s に向かって those in the community, which has resulted in many deciding to ボイコット(する) the event altogether.

Homosexuality is 違法な in Qatar and イスラム教徒s can 直面する the 死刑 if 起訴するd for it.

Earlier this week, 退役軍人 選挙運動者 Peter Tatchell?said he was 逮捕(する)d after 行う/開催する/段階ing the first LGBT 抗議する in the country to 最高潮の場面 its human 権利s 乱用s in the run-up to the 冒険的な event.

Carl Fearn, co-chairman of Gaygooners, 兵器庫 Football Club’s 支持者s group for LGBT fans, which has over 1,250 members 世界的な, said there has been a “deafening silence” from Fifa on the 問題/発行する.

“反対s by groups like ours are based on the 欠如(する) of fundam ental human 権利s for LGBT+ people in Qatar (加える other countries that still criminalise LGBT+ people) and the basic 権利 of LGBT+ people to 存在する”, the 59-year-old, who lives in Cumbria, told PA.

“LGBT+ people don’t choose their sexuality… LGBT+ people who live in Qatar will have to hide their true selves before, during and after the World Cup.

“We can’t speak 直接/まっすぐに for them, but we will do what we can to make the world wake up and realise sexuality is not a choice and that football really should be for everyone.

“Fifa’s ‘deafening silence’ has been telling, predictable and they are sticking their 長,率いるs in the sands of Qatar.”

Andrew Tilly, one of the 創立者s and a board member of Marching Out Together, 物陰/風下d 部隊d LGBT+ 支持者s group, told the PA news 機関 that he is not aware of anyone in his group going to the World Cup, and many may not even watch on television out of 原則.

“Most of the people I have spoken to probably would not have travelled abroad to watch England or むちの跡s anyway, so would 落ちる into the 部類 ‘even if we 普通は travelled overseas to watch England/むちの跡s, we would definitely ボイコット(する) Qatar’,” the 59-year-old, who is based in Cheltenham, said.

“I think for some people, the 不満 with FIFA’s 決定/判定勝ち(する) 延長するs to 選ぶing to not watching the World Cup on the TV, as a 声明 of 原則.”

Mr Tilly also 非難するd comments made by Foreign 長官 James Cleverly on LBC on Wednesday, where he 示唆するd that LGBT football fans 長,率いるing there should be “respectful of the host nation”.

“(They were) insensitive and unhelpful… and that’s the polite way to 述べる them,” he said.
