悲劇の firefighter Barry ツバメ should receive George Cross, MSPs told

A firefighter who died after 存在 批判的に 負傷させるd 取り組むing a 炎 at the historic Jenners building in Edinburgh should be awarded the George Cross, Alex Cole-Hamilton has said.

The Scottish 自由主義の 民主党員 leader paid 尊敬の印 to Barry ツバメ, 38, from Fife, who was 負傷させるd 取り組むing the 解雇する/砲火/射撃 at the former department 蓄える/店 last week.

The award is the highest 非軍事の gallantry award and is given for 行為/法令/行動するs of the greatest bravery, or 行為/法令/行動するs of courage in extreme danger.

Speaking at First 大臣’s Questions, Mr Cole-Hamilton said: “When we are told to run from danger, our 緊急 労働者s run に向かって it.

“Last week, Edinburgh firefighter Barry ツバメ did just that and paid the ultimate price in doing so.

“I hope that the First 大臣 will join me in 支払う/賃金ing 尊敬の印 to Barry and join our 成果/努力s to see him awar ded the George Cross ? the highest award for 非軍事の gallantry.”

Mr ツバメ was one of five firefighters taken to hospital に引き続いて the 解雇する/砲火/射撃.

He died on Friday, making him the first Scottish firefighter to die in the line of 義務 since Ewan Williamson, who died after 存在 負傷させるd in Edinburgh in 2009.

Ms Sturgeon paid her “deepest 弔慰s” in the Holyrood 議会 to Mr ツバメ’s family.

She said: “He typifies the bravery and courage of all of our 緊急 service 労働者s but, in particular, our firefighters.

“I have written to firefighter ツバメ’s family, but the thoughts of everyone across the 議会 are very much with them at this time.

“I hope that at this horrendously sad time for them, they will take some 慰安 from the love that has been 表明するd from all who knew and worked with Barry.”
