Actress Nikki Sanderson only became aware she had a ²ÄǽÀ¤Î¤¢¤ë ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ë against the publisher of the Mirror for ¿½¤·Î©¤Æ¤é¤ì¤¿¡¿µ¿¤ï¤·¤¤ unlawful ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë ½¸²ñ after chatting with Hollyoaks co-À±¡¿¼çÌò¤Ë¤¹¤ë Gary Lucy, the High Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê has heard.

Her »öÎã¡¿´µ¼Ô is one of four Âåɽ¼Ô¡¿¹ñ²ñµÄ°÷ ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ës ¸ºß heard in London, ¤È°ì½ï¤Ë Îà»÷¤Î ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ës brought by the Duke of Sussex, ºÜ´§¡Ê¼°¡Ë¡¿Â¨°Ì¡Ê¼°¡Ë Street actor Michael Turner, known professionally as Michael Le Vell, and comedian Paul Whitehouse¡Çs ex-wife Fiona Wightman.

Her barrister David Sherborne told the Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê on Thursday that Ms Sanderson had ·ùµ¿¼Ô¡¤ÍƵ¿¼Ô¡¿µ¿¤¦d friends, people working on ºÜ´§¡Ê¼°¡Ë¡¿Â¨°Ì¡Ê¼°¡Ë Street and members of the public of selling stories about her, and therefore ¡Èdidn¡Çt ·ùµ¿¼Ô¡¤ÍƵ¿¼Ô¡¿µ¿¤¦ unlawful methods ¸ºß used¡É until she spoke to Mr Lucy in about 2019.

Mr Sherborne said Ms Sanderson was ¡Èsurprised¡É when Mr Lucy told her that, based on a »öÎã¡¿´µ¼Ô he was bringing against MGN at the time, she would ¡Èdefinitely¡É have a ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ë.

The barrister said Ms Sanderson, who ¤È¤¸¹þ¤ß¡¿Äó½Ð¤¹¤ëd her ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ë in December 2020, says she had never heard about the Leveson Ä´ºº into °µÎϡʤò¤«¤±¤ë¡Ë ´ð½às, knew that the News Of The World had ¤Î¶á¤¯¤Ëd but not why, and had no knowledge of the previous High Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê phone Àڤ곫¤¯¡¿¥¿¥¯¥·¡¼¡¿ÉÔÀµ¥¢¥¯¥»¥¹ing ºÛȽ¡¤¸øȽ in 2015.

Ms Sanderson, who played Candice Stowe in ºÜ´§¡Ê¼°¡Ë¡¿Â¨°Ì¡Ê¼°¡Ë Street from 1999 until 2005, is ͽÄê to enter the ¾Ú¸À¡¤¾Ú¿Í¡¿Ìܷ⤹¤ë box to give ¾Úµò on Friday.

Mr Sherborne told the Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê that Ms Sanderson had been an actress ¡Èfor most of her life¡É, first appearing in the long-running soap when she was Ϸǯ¤Î 15.

¡ÈIndeed, she would say she grew up on the show until she left in 2005,¡É the barrister said.

Mr Sherborne said Ms Sanderson¡Çs ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ë spanned a period of 10 years, 1999 to 2009, and that she complains about 37 articles in Mirror ¸ª½ñ¤òÍ¿¤¨¤ës.

He told the Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê that MGN had ǧ¤á¤ë unlawful ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë in relation to one story from October 2004, and made admissions that its ¿·Ê¹µ¼Ô¡¿»¨»ïµ¼Ôs ¶µ¤¨¤ëd »äŪ¤Ê Áܺº´±¡¿Ä´ºº´±s to unlawfully ÆÀ¤ë ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë on four occasions.

MGN has °ÊÁ° ÈÝÄꤹ¤ëd that 35 of the 37 articles ȼ¤¦¡¿´Ø¤ï¤ëd phone Àڤ곫¤¯¡¿¥¿¥¯¥·¡¼¡¿ÉÔÀµ¥¢¥¯¥»¥¹ing or unlawful ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë ½¸²ñ, with one article ¸ºß not ǧ¤á¤ë.

Mr Sherborne said MGN had apologised to Ms Sanderson for the ¡Èfirst time¡É in a ʸ½ñ submitted for the ºÛȽ¡¤¸øȽ, Äɲ乤ëing that this was ¡È¤Ë¤â¤«¤«¤ï¤é¤º the fact that her ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ë has been going on for three years¡É.

He also told the Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê the actress ÀßΩ¤¹¤ë it a ¡Èstrange position¡É and ¡Èrather ¼ºË¾¤µ¤»¤ëing¡É that MGN settled a ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ë brought by her mother Judith Sanderson, who has ¶¡µë¤¹¤ëd a ¾Ú¸À¡¤¾Ú¿Í¡¿Ìܷ⤹¤ë À¼ÌÀ for her »öÎã¡¿´µ¼Ô.

He said her ¡Èbest friend¡É Natalie Turner, former boyfriend Danny Young, and former ºÜ´§¡Ê¼°¡Ë¡¿Â¨°Ì¡Ê¼°¡Ë Street co-À±¡¿¼çÌò¤Ë¤¹¤ë Tina O¡ÇBrien have also ¶¡µë¤¹¤ëd?À¼ÌÀs.

¡ÈThey all ½Ò¤Ù¤ë how they would Äê´üŪ¤Ë ¸òή voicemails with her,¡É he said.

¡ÈThey all ½Ò¤Ù¤ë her as a »äŪ¤Ê and ÍÑ¿´¿¼¤¤ girl,¡É Mr Sherborne said, Äɲ乤ëing that stories had a ¡Èlong standing ±Æ¶Á on her personality ¸¢Íø up to the ¸½ºß¤Î day¡É.

The ºÛȽ¡¤¸øȽ °ÊÁ° heard that Ms Sanderson felt like she was ¡Èpublic ½êͭʪ¡¿»ñ»º¡¿ºâ»º¡É and experienced ÍðÍÑ in the street ¤Ë°ú¤Â³¤¤¤Æ ¡È¸í¤Ã¤¿ insinuations¡É in articles published by MGN ¸ª½ñ¤òÍ¿¤¨¤ës.

Ms?Sanderson¡Çs?¹çˡŪ¤Ê team said in Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê ʸ½ñs that she experienced ¡Èunusual telephone and ¥Þ¥¹¥³¥ß-´Ø·¸¤Î¤¢¤ë activity¡É which was °ì´Ó¤·¤¿ with the ¡Èunauthorised Àܶáing of her voicemails and other unlawful ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë ½¸²ñ¡É, with »äŪ¤Ê ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë appearing in newspapers with ¡Èno ¹çˡŪ explanation¡É as to how it was ÆÀ¤ëd.

Mr Sherborne said she said it was ¡È¡Æscary¡Ç feeling like she was always ¸ºß watched, and ¡Æupsetting¡Ç that MGN¡Çs ¹Ô°Ù¡¿¹Ô¤¦ ¸¶°ø¡Ê¤È¤Ê¤ë¡Ëd the lines between her public and »äŪ¤Ê life to blur, making her believe that she was ¡Æpublic ½êͭʪ¡¿»ñ»º¡¿ºâ»º¡Ç.¡É

¡ÈThe ¾×·â of the stories on?Nikki?Sanderson?was °²½¤µ¤»¤ëd by their ¸í¤Ã¤¿ insinuations that she was promiscuous, ¸¶°ø¡Ê¤È¤Ê¤ë¡Ëing her ¹Âç¤Ê¡¿Â¿¿ô¤Î¡¿½ÅÍ×¤Ê upset and giving rise to her ¸ºß »ÙÇÛ¤¹¤ëd to mental and physical ÍðÍÑ, having people shout at her in the street calling her a ¡Æwhore¡Ç, ¡Æslag¡Ç or ¡Æslut¡Ç and even ¸ºß ÆùÂÎŪ¤Ë ¶¯½±¡¤¶¯´¯d on Èó¾ï¤Ë¡¿Â¿¿ô¤Î occasions,¡ É Mr Sherborne said.

¡ÈIt gave rise to her feeling in a constant ÌÀ¸À¤¹¤ë¡¿¸øɽ¤¹¤ë of paranoia, ÉÔ¿®ing everyone around her.¡É

He Äɲ乤ëd that »Ùʧ¤¤¡Ê³Û¡Ë µÏ¿¡¤µÏ¿Åª¤Ê¡¿µÏ¿¤¹¤ës to »äŪ¤Ê Áܺº´±¡¿Ä´ºº´±s show Ms Sanderson was ¡È»ÙÇÛ¤¹¤ëd to very large ÎÌs of unlawful ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë ½¸²ñ¡É.

This made her feel ¡Èangry and ¶ì¤·¤á¤ëd¡É, with the actress ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ëing: ¡ÈI was a young girl and they were ¸Û¤¦ing ̵ºî°Ù¤Î men to follow me ? they could have done anything to me.¡É

In its ºÛȽ¡¤¸øȽ defence, the publisher says Ms?Sanderson¡Çs?¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ë is brought too late, but ¡Èunreservedly apologises¡É over four »Ùʧ¤¤¡Ê³Û¡Ës made to »äŪ¤Ê Áܺº´±¡¿Ä´ºº´±s which it ¼ýÍƤ¹¤ë¡¿Ç§¤á¤ës are ¾Úµò of »Ø¼¨¡¿¶µ¼ø¡¿¶µ°és to unlawfully ÆÀ¤ë her »äŪ¤Ê ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë.

The publisher also ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ës that ¾Úµò does not ¼¨º¶¤¹¤ë Ms Sanderson¡Çs phone was ¼óÈø¤è¤¯ Àڤ곫¤¯¡¿¥¿¥¯¥·¡¼¡¿ÉÔÀµ¥¢¥¯¥»¥¹d.

MGN °ÊÁ° brought a ´ë¤Æ¡¤ÅØÎÏ¡¤Äó°Æ to have Ms Sanderson¡Çs ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ë thrown out but it was µö¤¹d to proceed by Mr »ÊË¡¡Ê´±¡Ë Fancourt in a May 2022 Ƚ·è¡¤ºÛÄê.

Earlier on Thursday, former Daily Mirror ²¦¼¼¤Î ÆÃÇÉ°÷ Jane Kerr told the Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê she ¡Ènever seen anyone ·Þ·â¤¹¤ë a call¡É in almost two £±£°Ç¯´Ös working at MGN newspapers.

Ms Kerr, who began giving ¾Úµò on Wednesday after Harry left the ¾Ú¸À¡¤¾Ú¿Í¡¿Ìܷ⤹¤ë box, ľÌ̤¹¤ëd nearly three more hours of ¿ÒÌä on Thursday.

Mr Sherborne said it had °ÊÁ° been ¼õÂ÷¤¹¤ëd by MGN, and held by a Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê Ƚ·è¡¤ºÛÄê on a separate ºÛȽ¡¤¸øȽ of Àڤ곫¤¯¡¿¥¿¥¯¥·¡¼¡¿ÉÔÀµ¥¢¥¯¥»¥¹ing ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ës in 2015, that there was ¡Èhabitual and ÉáµÚ¤·¤¿ voicemail interception and use of unlawful ¡Ê·Ù»¡¤Ê¤É¤Ø¤Î¡ËÌ©¹ð¡¤¹ðÁʡʾõ¡Ë ½¸²ñ across all three newspapers¡É.

¡ÈYou seem to remain Á´¤¯ uninvolved and Á´¤¯ unaware of that, is that your ¾Úµò?¡É Mr Sherborne asked Ms Kerr.

¡ÈIt is,¡É sh e said, Äɲ乤ëing that she ¡Èhad no idea of anything that you have said¡É.

She also told the Ë¡ÄºÛȽ½ê: ¡ÈI¡Çve never ·Þ·â¤¹¤ëd a voicemail, I wouldn¡Çt even know how.¡É

The ºÛȽ¡¤¸øȽ is ͽÄê to ºÆ³«¤¹¤ë at 11am on Friday ¤Ë°ú¤Â³¤¤¤Æ a ¿³Íý¡¤¸øÄ°²ñ in relation to an »ÈÍÑ¡¿Å¬ÍÑ by the duke, which may be held in »äŪ¤Ê.
