迎撃するs are ありふれた, with the US 説 that there have been more than 180 such 出来事/事件s since the autumn of 2021.
They are not often as の近くに as Tuesday’s 出来事/事件, however, and with 緊張s already high between Beijing and Washington, a 衝突／不一致 would have had the 可能性のある to lead to an escalation.
The US 軍の said in its 声明 that the 出来事/事件 will not change its approach.
“The US will continue to 飛行機で行く, sail and operate ― 安全に and responsibly ― wherever international 法律s 許す,” the 軍の said.
