New centres to 研究 気候 change and food sustainability

Two new all-Ireland 研究 centres on 気候 and 維持できる food are to be created with 基金ing of 70 million euro (£60.7 million).

The 基金ing will bring together academics, 産業 and policymakers across the Irish 政府, UK 政府 and Stormont departments.

One 研究 centre will look at 気候, biodiversity and water, while the other will be 献身的な to 研究ing 維持できる and resilient food systems.

Each will be led by a team of academics from 広大な/多数の/重要な Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The 投資 was 明かすd by Irish and UK science 大臣s Simon Harris and Michelle Donelan along with Katrina Godfrey, 永久の 長官 at Stormont’s Department of 農業, 環境 and 田舎の 事件/事情/状勢s (Daera).

Ms Godfrey said: “The co-centres programme is an excellent example of 政府 funders working in 共同 to support 研究員s and 産業 who will 請け負う cutting-辛勝する/優位 研究 in areas of 相互の 経済的な, societal, health and 環境の importance.

The programme is 基金d over six years, with up to 40 million euro (£34.7 million) from Science 創立/基礎 Ireland (SFI), up to £17 million from Daera, and up to £12 million through UK 研究 and 革新 (UKRI), and is co-基金d by 産業.

The two new co-centres will 正式に 開始する activities in January and will be 基金d until 2030.

The programme takes 今後 かかわり合いs in the New 10年間, New Approach 協定 to 設立する all-island 研究 and 革新 中心s.
