海軍軍艦 HMS Westminster 護衛するs ロシアの大型船s through English Channel

A 王室の海軍軍艦 has been 仕事d with 護衛するing four ロシアの大型船s through the English Channel, the 省 of Defence (MoD) has 確認するd.

HMS Westminster, a Portsmouth-based Type 23 フリゲート艦, was 緊急発進するd to 迎撃する two of Vladimir Putin’s 軍艦s and two supporting 大型船s as they passed の近くに to UK waters.

命令（する）ing officer of HMS Westminster, 指揮官 Simon Kelly, said the ship’s 役割 as the 王室の海軍’s (n)艦隊／(a)素早い Ready 護衛する is to be at “very high 準備完了” to 答える／応じる to anything.

“While today most people are returning to work for the first time in the new year, HMS Westminster’s ship’s company has been at sea and at 準備完了 as part of the 王室の海軍’s かかわり合い to keep Britain 安全な at all times,” he said.

“The English Channel is an 絶対の lifeline for the UK, and it is very important HMS Westminster and the 王室の海軍持続するs a watchful 注目する，もくろむ on this 重要な戦略の link.”

After 存在派遣（する）d on Friday, HMS Westminster remained at sea before 会合 up with the ロシアの ships.

The MoD said the ship had been keeping 跡をつける of their activities in � �areas of Britain’s 国家の利益／興味”, before 護衛するing them through the English Channel on Monday.

It is believed the four ロシアの ships are returning to the Baltic after 操作／手術s in the Middle East.

The UK 軍艦 will remain with the two Steregushchiy-class フリゲート艦s Soobrazitelny and Boiky and support 大型船s Paradoks and Kola as they 長，率いる north.

On Christmas Eve, HMS Tyne was called to 護衛する a ロシアの知能-集会 ship through the North Sea and the English Channel.
