癌 患者 完全にするing lockdown 小旅行する de フラン to raise 基金s

A man with 行う/開催する/段階 four bowel 癌 has been using his time 保護物,者ing to 完全にする a locked-負かす/撃墜する 小旅行する de フラン to raise money for the 創立/基礎 behind his 麻薬 裁判,公判.

Keith Farquharson from Heaton in Newcastle has been in 検疫 for four months to 保護する himself from the ウイルス.

The 46-year-old ソフトウェア developer is 現在/一般に receiving 癌 治療 at the Sir Bobby Robson 癌 裁判,公判s 研究 Centre and 始める,決める himself the challenge of cycling 2,082 miles (3,350km) to raise money for the 創立/基礎.

He has raised more than £3,000 and is 予定 to finish his final 40 miles on Friday July 10.

He is one of around 80 患者s globally on a 治療 裁判,公判 for Cetrelimab, which he began taking in February 2018 at the centre.

He was first 診断するd in May 2017 and after six months of chemotherapy was told that half of the people with his prognosis die within 12 months.

He told the PA news 機関: “I am the only person in Newcastle getting this 治療, and I think one of only two in the UK.

“To have this 施設 on my doorstep in the North East of England is incredible and I am so 感謝する that they 存在する and have kept me alive for so long.

“One of the 推論する/理由s I have done this is to give something 支援する to them.”

This is not the first time Mr Farquharson has taken on a physical challenge, having 調印するd up for the 広大な/多数の/重要な North run two years after a 3倍になる 癌 diagnosis 攻撃する,衝突する his family.

Within the space of five months, he, his wife Amber, and his father were all 診断するd with 癌. His wife is now in remission but his father died in March last year.

Using a turbo trainer and a simulator, he has been able to 変える his road bike and cycled up and 負かす/撃墜する the mountains of フラン without having to leave his living room.

The total ascent covered by the race is the 同等(の) of climbing 開始する エベレスト five times.

He has been cycling for two hours a day, 取り組むing 50km (31 mile) stretches at a time, と一緒に working from home and receiving his 癌 治療.

On occasions, he has been joined by seven-year-old son Caspian.

He said: “He has been cycling bits with me, おもに downhill bits which he やめる enjoys, seeing how 急速な/放蕩な he can go.”

He said: “I’ve always been a fan of the 小旅行する de フラン but the 2018 race is special for me.

“It was the year my wife and I were both off work with 癌 and I had time to watch it all.

“It was an iconic race and my mum was Welsh, so it really meant a lot to me that Geraint Thomas won.

“This has given me something else to 焦点(を合わせる) on while we’re all stuck at home and I’m raising 基金s so that others can 利益 from 研究 into 癌, as I have.

“It’s a really fantastic activity for me mentally 同様に as physic 同盟(する). When I’m cycling, I’m not thinking about anything else. I’m just cycling. That’s such an important escape for me just now.”
