Former nurse Joan, 101, 準備するs for final (競技場の)トラック一周 of park to raise 基金s for NHS

A 101-year-old retired nurse has raised thousands of 続けざまに猛撃するs for the NHS as she 目的(とする)s to walk 102 (競技場の)トラック一周s of her 地元の park before she turns 102.

Joan Rich has already 完全にするd 100 (競技場の)トラック一周s of Allenby Park in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

The 101st walk is planned for Thursday and the final walk will take place on her birthday on September 11.

Using her でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れる, or 押し進めるing her 車椅子, she walks around the park 完全にするing a 560m walk from door to door.

Mrs Rich said she was 奮起させるd to 完全にする the challenge after seeing “NHS” mowed into the lawn of the park during lockdown.

“I 手配中の,お尋ね者 to do my bit for them,” she said.

“The only way I can help is by walking, like Sir Tom, I hope it makes a difference.”

Her daughter Diane Rich, who …を伴ってs her on the walks, 始める,決める up a JustGiving page to raise 基金s for NHS charities.

She has raised more than £22,000 so far and she hopes for a final 殺到する in 寄付s as she 目的(とする)s to 完全にする her final two walks.

“She has walked over 35 miles,” Diane told the PA news 機関.

“She has been very humbled by the support she has had from 隣人s, friends and strangers.

“She says no 事柄 how big or small all 寄付s 追加する up to help raise money for the NHS.”

Joan, who was a nurse at Felixstowe General Hospital between 1964 and 1978, said she いつかs had to take trips to the park during 転換s when 患者s absconded from the hospital and went to the park.

Mrs Rich also worked at Hillingdon Hospital in west London ? the hospital in 総理大臣 Boris Johnson’s 選挙区/有権者 ? before moving to Felixstowe in 1964.

During the Second World War she served with the 王室の 軍の Police and was 駅/配置するd in Jerusalem where she helped pr isoners of war return to health before 存在 sent home to their families in the UK ? 含むing a member of her 地元の bicycle club in Ipswich who was 逮捕(する)d at the start of the war.

Mrs Rich, who was born in Meriden in the West Midlands during the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918, said the sense of community spirit during the coronavirus pandemic reminded her of that during war time.

While 駅/配置するd in Jerusalem, she lived の近くに to another Allenby Park ? spending more than half of her life visiting parks with the same 指名する.
