Pedro Almodovar movie to kick off Venice International Film Festival

The Venice International Film Festival will kick off its 78th 版 in September with the 首相 of Pedro Almodovar’s film Madres Paralelas.

Organisers said on Monday that the film about two, 選び出す/独身 and 妊娠している women starring Penelope Cruz, Milena Smit and イスラエル Elejalde will debut as part of the 競争 予定する on September 1.

Almodovar has a long history with the oldest film festival in the world and said in a written 声明 that he was “born as a film director in 1983 in Venice”.

In 2019, he was given the Festival’s Golden Lion for Lifetime 業績/成就.

“I cannot explain the joy and the honour, and how much this means to me without 落ちるing into complacency,” Almodovar continued.

“I am very 感謝する to the festival for this 承認 and hope to be up to it.”

The Venice International Film Festival is scheduled to run through September 11 on the sleepy beach island Lido.

The festival will also host the 首相 of Denis Villeneuve’s 心配するd adaptation of Dune, starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, 同様に as David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills in 合同 with a lifetime 業績/成就 award for 星/主役にする Jamie 物陰/風下 Curtis.
