Call for more 救急車 staff after 軍の 職員/兵員 cover `burnt-out´ 乗組員s

More needs to be done to help struggling 救急車 services which have been 軍隊d to call in 軍の support, a union has said.

Unison said that “something is wrong” when other services are “routinely” 草案d in to help 信用s under 圧力.

And NHS Providers, which 代表するs NHS organisations, said that 投資 in the 救急車 service is “long 延滞の”.

It comes after it was 明らかにする/漏らすd that 87 軍の 職員/兵員 have been helping out in the North East, East of England and South West.

While they are not 成し遂げるing 医療の 義務s, they have been 補助装置ing with logistical needs 含むing restocking 救急車s.

During the 高さ of the pandemic firefighters and police were also sent to struggling services, 成し遂げるing 仕事s such as 運動ing 救急車s.

Sara Gorton, 長,率いる of health at the union Unison, told BBC 無線で通信する 4’s Today programme: “For both the staff in the 救急車 service and 患者s who are waiting, seeing a member of the 軍の turning up to a 999 call is a real 調印する that things aren’t all 井戸/弁護士席 in the 救急車 service.

“And what we’re seeing is 状況/情勢s that used t o be very 時折の ? so services operating at the highest 出来事/事件 level, 転換 over-runs ? that these have become everyday 状況/情勢s, and it’s just not 維持できる.

“It’s creating this vicious circle ? as the 圧力 builds it 原因(となる)s more sickness の中で staff, and that itself 追加するs to the 圧力 because there are より小数の people and より小数の 乗り物s to go 一連の会議、交渉/完成する.”

She 追加するd: “Doesn’t that 示唆する that there’s something wrong if the 軍の has to be brought in on a 決まりきった仕事 basis, then don’t we need to 現実に question how many people we need in the service as a 事柄 of 決まりきった仕事?

“The 需要・要求する has been rising ? yes, we’ve been through a very exceptional period during Covid ? but it’s a pattern that has been building for several years.

“We have problems 予定 to vacancies, we’ve worked with 雇用者s to sort those out, now we need to look at 増加するing the numbers of staff and 救急車s in the sys tem.”

One paramedic, who asked to remain 匿名の/不明の, told the Today programme: “A lot of staff take time off because of burnout.”

“We are often 支援する-to-支援する with our 職業s, and often not getting a break until 特に late in our 転換s, we often are stuck at hospitals because we can’t 荷を降ろす our 患者s and that will lead to late finishes 同様に because of the 需要・要求する that we’re under.

“If we are the closest 資源 to a 部類 one 緊急 ? such as a cardiac 逮捕(する), if someone’s not breathing, if someone’s unconscious ? we will be sent to that, even if it’s one minute left of our 転換, and that 職業 can take an hour, two hours’ time and that’s in two hours that you’re then finishing late.”

Chris Hopson, 長,指導者 (n)役員/(a)執行力のある of NHS Providers, said: “救急車 信用s have been operating under incredible 圧力 in 最近の months 予定 to 国家の lockdowns, 患者s 現在のing with more 厳しい symptoms, the growing mental health 衝撃 of the pandemic and very stretched 最初の/主要な and social care.

“This has meant that at times, 救急車 services have been overstretched, 衝撃ing on care for 患者s and the wellbeing of staff and volunteers. 厳しい 全労働人口 不足s have also been 構内/化合物d by high 率s of burnout, staff sickness and 検疫 対策.

“We 借りがある a 抱擁する 負債 of 感謝 to the staff, both within the NHS and the 武装した 軍隊s, who are working incredibly hard to 持続する services and care for 患者s at a time when 需要・要求する for 緊急 care has reached 記録,記録的な/記録する levels.

“It is (疑いを)晴らす that 投資 in the 救急車 service is long 延滞の. 事前の to the pandemic, the 救急車 部門 needed £250 million 付加 基金ing to を取り引きする 増加するing 需要・要求する and 除去する historic underfunding.

“We are 勧めるing that the 政府 use this autumn’s spending review to 始める,決める out how it will 答える/応じる to this challenge”.

部隊 国家の officer for health, Colenzo Jarrett-Thorpe, said: “For 30 years the NHS has taken the worst a spects of ‘lean’ 商売/仕事 modelling and has 適用するd it to 削除する, trash and privatise our NHS, and this has meant our 救急車 services across England do not have the capacity to 対処する with 殺到するs in 需要・要求する.

“Though the extra support from the 武装した 軍隊s is welcome for an over-stretched 緊急 service, this news is symptomatic of what is wrong.

“Marketisation and privatisation of our 救急車 services doesn’t 利益 the public, just the greedy ‘vultures’ lying in wait to make 利益(をあげる) from the 苦痛 and illness of the public.”

It comes after South Western 救急車 Service NHS 創立/基礎 信用 encouraged 患者s to use NHS 111 online for advice after 直面するing 前例のない 需要・要求する.

The 信用 問題/発行するd a 思い出の品 to members of the public that 999 should be reserved for 緊急 問題/発行するs only.

In the week to July 27 it has received calls for sunburn, minor 削減(する)s or sprains.

The 信用 experienced the busiest week in its history in 中央の-July, after getting a call every 26 seconds.

A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said: “We are committed to supporting 救急車 乗組員s who work tirelessly 答える/応じるing to 緊急s every day.

“There are hundreds of new 救急車s on the roads across the country thanks to our 投資s, and we are 供給するing 記録,記録的な/記録する 基金ing to the NHS, with an extra £29 billion this year alone for health and care services, 含むing £1 billion to help 取り組む the backlog that has built up during the pandemic.
