20,000 Afghan 難民s to be given 聖域 in the UK

Some 20,000 Afghans are to be welcomed to the UK in coming years as the 政府 明かすd the 詳細(に述べる)s of a 計画/陰謀 to 供給する 聖域 for those most at 危険 of 迫害 by the Taliban.

恐れるs have been building for those who worked against the Taliban in Afghanistan since the 落ちる of Kabul to the 交戦的なs on Sunday, with 増加するing calls for 大臣s to step up to 救助(する) those who wish to leave the country.

Boris Johnson has 約束d that up to 5,000 Afghans can find 避難 in the UK this year, with up to 20,000 in the longer 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語.

The 総理大臣, who will 演説(する)/住所 MPs on Wednesday on the 危機 in Afghanistan, said: “We 借りがある a 負債 of 感謝 to all those who have worked with us to make Afghanistan a better place over the last 20 years.

“Many of them, 特に women, are now in 緊急の need of our help. I am proud that the UK has been able to put in place this 大勝する to help them and their families live 安全に in the UK.”

Nick Thomas-Symonds, 労働’s 影をつくる/尾行する home 長官, welcomed that a 計画/陰謀 was in place but said there needed to be a “more 緊急の 計画(する) of 活動/戦闘”.

The 政府 said the new 計画/陰謀 was in 新規加入 to the 5,000 Afghans already 推定する/予想するd to move to the UK under the Afghan 移転s and 援助 政策 (ARAP), which is designed to 申し込む/申し出 地元の 同盟(する)s such as interpreters 優先 移転 to the UK.

大臣s said they would keep the 計画/陰謀 under review in coming years, and would work with devolved nations and 地元の 会議s to 配達する support for those 逃げるing to the UK.

Already 地元の leaders have made (疑いを)晴らす their 意向s to help with the 成果/努力 of 住宅 the 難民s.

Steve Rotheram, metro 市長 for the Liverpool City 地域, told the Liverpool Echo: “Our city 地域 has long been a 聖域 for people escaping war, 飢饉 and 迫害 and we will do all we can to 補助装置 難民s from this terrible 衝突.”

Leader of Wirral 会議 Jan Williamson said: “The people of Wirral, 同様に as those across the UK, will welcome those who need our 援助.”
