Texas inmate 勝利,勝つs (死)刑の執行猶予(をする) over call for 牧師 to lay 手渡すs on him as he dies

A US (刑務所の)死刑囚棟 inmate won a (死)刑の執行猶予(をする) from 死刑執行 for 殺人,大当り a convenience 蓄える/店 労働者 during a 2004 強盗 that 獲得するd 1.25 US dollars after (人命などを)奪う,主張するing the 明言する/公表する was 侵害する/違反するing his 宗教的な freedom by not letting his 牧師 lay 手渡すs on him at the time of his lethal 注射.

The US 最高裁判所 封鎖するd John Henry Ramirez’s 死刑執行 in Texas about three hours after he could have been 遂行する/発効させるd.

He is 非難するd for fatally stabbing 46-year-old Pablo Castro, who worked at a Corpus Christi convenience 蓄える/店.

Ramirez was in a small 持つ/拘留するing 独房 a few feet from the Texas death 議会 at the Huntsville 部隊 刑務所,拘置所 when he was told of the (死)刑の執行猶予(をする) by Texas Department of 犯罪の 司法(官) 広報担当者 Jason Clark.

“He was 静かな when I let him know,” Mr Clark said.

“He shook his 長,率いる and said: ‘Thank you very much.

“God bless you.’”

In its 簡潔な/要約する order, the 法廷,裁判所 directed its clerk to 設立する a 要点説明 schedule so Ramirez’s 事例/患者 could be argued in October or November.

検察官,検事s say Ramirez stabbed Castro 29 times during a 一連の 強盗s in which the inmate and two women sought money に引き続いて a three-day 麻薬 binge.

Ramirez fled to Mexico but was 逮捕(する)d three and a half years later.

Seth Kretzer, Ramirez’s lawyer, had argued the Texas Department of 犯罪の 司法(官) was 侵害する/違反するing the (刑務所の)死刑囚棟 inmate’s First 改正 権利s to practice his 宗教 by 否定するing his request to have his 牧師 touch him and vocalise 祈りs when he was 遂行する/発効させるd.

He called the 禁止(する) on 声の 祈り a spiritual “gag order”.

“It is 敵意を持った toward 宗教, 否定するing 宗教的な 演習 at the 正確な moment it is most needed: when someone is 移行ing from this life to the next,” Mr Kretzer said in 法廷,裁判所 文書s.

Lower 控訴,上告s 法廷,裁判所s had 拒絶するd Ramirez’s argument.

The request by Ramirez, 37, is the 最新の 衝突/不一致 between (刑務所の)死刑囚棟 inmates and 刑務所,拘置所 公式の/役人s in Texas and other 明言する/公表するs over the presence of spiritual 助言者s in the death 議会.

In 最近の years, the 最高裁判所 has 認めるd stays 停止(させる)ing several 死刑執行s in Texas and Alabama over the presence of clergy or spiritual 助言者s in the death 議会.

The only 死刑執行 stays the 最高裁判所 has 認めるd in 最近の years have been 関係のある to 問題/発行するs of 宗教的な practice or 差別.

In April, the Texas 刑務所,拘置所 system 逆転するd a two-year 禁止(する) on 許すing spiritual 助言者s in the death 議会.

The 禁止(する) (機の)カム after the US 最高裁判所 in 2019 停止(させる)d the 死刑執行 of another Texas inmate who had argued his 宗教的な freedom was 存在 侵害する/違反するd because his Buddhist spiritual 助言者 was not 許すd to …を伴って him.

That inmate, Patrick Murphy, remains on (刑務所の)死刑囚棟.

Texas 以前 許すd 明言する/公表する-雇うd clergy to …を伴って inmates into the 議会, but its 刑務所,拘置所 staff 含むd only Christian and イスラム教徒 聖職者のs.

The new 政策 許すs an inmate’s 認可するd spiritual 助言者 to be in the 議会 but the two cannot have any 接触する and 声の 祈りs during the 死刑執行 are not 許すd.

Texas 刑務所,拘置所 公式の/役人s say direct 接触する 提起する/ポーズをとるs a 安全 危険 and the 声の 祈り could be 破壊的な and would go against 持続するing an 整然とした 過程.

Aside from some 刑務所,拘置所 公式の/役人s, an inmate’s final 声明 and a doctor who 発表するs the time of death, no one else usually 正式に speaks during an 死刑執行.

“Pablo Castro didn’t get to have somebody praying over him as this guy stabbed him 29 times.

“Pablo Castro didn’t get afforded such niceties and things like to have a clergyman 現在の,” said 検察官,検事 示す Skurka, now retired after later serving as Nueces 郡 検察官.

Mr Castro, who had nine children, had worked at the convenience 蓄える/店 for more than a 10年間 when he was killed.

“He was a good guy.

“He would help people out in the neighbourhood.

“Everybody liked him,” Mr Skurka sai d.

Two women who took part in the 強盗s and were 罪人/有罪を宣告するd on lesser 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s remain in 刑務所,拘置所.

Six more 死刑執行s are scheduled for later this year in Texas, the nation’s busiest 死刑 明言する/公表する.
