Who is Javier Olivan, Meta's next COO?

June 1 (Reuters) - Meta 壇・綱領・公約s 退役軍人 Javier Olivan is taking over as the company's 長，指導者 operating officer after playing a 決定的な but 大部分は behind-the-scenes 役割 stoking the social マスコミ company's 爆発性の growth for 15 years.
The Spaniard will 取って代わる Sheryl Sandberg, who 発表するd on Wednesday she was stepping 負かす／撃墜する from Meta.
The move comes as Meta struggles with slowing growth and rising costs. It is transforming from a social マスコミ company to one 焦点（を合わせる）d on building the metaverse, a collection of 事実上の worlds that could be a １０年間 away.
Olivan, who grew up in the Pyrenees 地域 of northern Spain, 持つ／拘留するs degrees in 電気の and 産業の 工学 from the University of Navarra and a master's in 商売／仕事 行政 from Stanford University.
Before joining Facebook in late 2007 as 長，率いる of international growth, Olivan, 44, worked at Japan's NTT and Siemens.
When he joined, Facebook was a young company with about 40 million 使用者s and now has nearly 3.6 billion 使用者s across Facebook and other apps such as Instagram.

One thing is ありそうもない to change. Olivan will continue to stay out of the limelight as he carries out the COO 職業. This contrasts with Sandberg, who appeared before 議会, wrote a best-selling 調書をとる／予約する about women in the workplace and often 代表するd Facebook to outside audiences.
"This 役割 will be different from what Sheryl has done. It will be a more 伝統的な COO 役割 where Javi will be 焦点（を合わせる）d internally and operationally, building on his strong 跡をつける 記録，記録的な／記録する of making our 死刑執行 more efficient and rigorous," Zuckerberg said.
