Wildfires 激怒(する) across Europe as 気候 alarm sounded

ATHENS/LONDON, July 20 (Reuters) - 緊急 services 戦う/戦いd wildfires across 列s of southern Europe まっただ中に 集まり 避難/引き上げs on Wednesday, as 警告s sounded in London after Britain's hottest day that the fight against 気候 change needed to be stepped up.

Hundreds fled in central Italy as gas 戦車/タンクs 爆発するd in a forest 解雇する/砲火/射撃 近づく the Tuscan town of Lucca. 類似の numbers fled in Greece as a 炎 fuelled by 強風-軍隊 勝利,勝つd 激怒(する)d in mountains north of Athens. Greek 当局 said later in the day that the 炎 had been tamed.

A 残虐な heatwave with spikes 井戸/弁護士席 above 40 Celsius (104F) settled over southern Europe last week, part of a 全世界の pattern of rising 気温s, 広範囲にわたって せいにするd by scientists and climatologists to human activity. It is 予測(する) to 捨てる searing heat on much of 中国 into late August.

It is also 推定する/予想するd to expose around 100 million Americans to 気温s above 38C on Wednesday and 始める,決める 記録,記録的な/記録するs in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.

While the 記録,記録的な/記録する heat last week around parts of the Mediterranean has 緩和するd, 水銀柱,温度計 readings have begun 長,率いるing up again in Portugal, Spain and Italy.

Armando Silva, Civil 保護 指揮官 in Portugal's northern 地域, said rising 気温s and strong 勝利,勝つd would make it harder to fight the country's largest wildfire centred on the municipality of Mur?a.

It has 燃やすd 10,000-12,000 ヘクタールs (38-46 square miles) since Sunday and around 800 firefighters and six water 計画(する)s have been (軍隊を)展開する,配備するd to 取り組む it.

That 示す was topped in Britain for the first time on Tuesday, 粉々にするing the country's previous 気温 記録,記録的な/記録する by 1.6 degrees Celsius. At least 13 people have died while swimming to 冷静な/正味の off.

The 長,指導者 of Science and 科学(工学)技術 of Britain's Met Office, Stephen Belcher, said that unless 放出/発行s were 減ずるd, the country might experience 類似の heatwaves every three years.

'OUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL SUFFER'

The 転換 in 気候 is 主要な to more wildfires and will 軍隊 フラン and the European Union to take "構造上の 決定/判定勝ち(する)s...in the years to come", 大統領 Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday.

In southern Europe, far larger wildfires continued to 激怒(する).

In Italy, 緊急 乗組員s in Tuscany 戦う/戦いd the Lucca wildfire, which 軍隊d around 500 people to 避難させる as 炎上s reached villages 夜通し and 原因(となる)d 液化するd gas 戦車/タンクs to 爆発する, the 地域's 知事, Eugenio Giani, tweeted.

Another 解雇する/砲火/射撃 の近くに to the 国境 with Croatia and Slovenia 軍隊d 明言する/公表する-owned shipbuilder Fincantieri to の近くに 負かす/撃墜する its 工場/植物 in the port city of Monfalcone, which 雇うs 3,000 people.

As the 解雇する/砲火/射撃 crossed into Slovenia, the 市長 of nearby Trieste told 地元の TV that parts of the town could soon stop receivin g 力/強力にする, which would shut off the water 供給(する).

In Greece, 厚い smoke darkened the sky over 開始する Penteli, 27 km (16 miles) north of Athens, where の近くに to 500 firefighters, 120 解雇する/砲火/射撃 engines and 15 water-carrying 計画(する)s managed to 茎・取り除く the spread of a wildfire.

"Yesterday's 解雇する/砲火/射撃 in the area of Penteli had all the features of a 状況/情勢 which was very hard to manage," Civil 保護 大臣 Christos Stylianides said in a テレビ放送するd 声明 later on Wednesday.

"Now the 解雇する/砲火/射撃 has been brought under 支配(する)/統制する."

Greek 当局 said they 避難させるd nine 解決/入植地s and a hospital, and police helped at least 600 居住(者)s out of 解雇する/砲火/射撃 zones. Strong 勝利,勝つd were 予測(する) to 固執する in the area until Thursday.

In フラン, where firefighters in the southwestern Gironde 地域 have been 戦う/戦いing since July 12 to 含む/封じ込める 抱擁する forest 解雇する/砲火/射撃s, 農業 大臣 Marc Fesneau said more money needed to be 投資するd to 取り組む such 脅しs.

In Portugal, as the Mur?a 解雇する/砲火/射撃 激怒(する)d nearby, olive tree grower Manuel Lopes, 67, 恐れるd for his 農園s and for the 未来 of his 干ばつ-stricken 地域. "Our grandchildren ... will 苦しむ if this (気候 change) doesn't stop," he said.
