MANILA, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Philippine 政府 労働者 Mary Grace Burgos, 24, had several 削減(する) dates lined up for on Valentine's Day with one thing in ありふれた: they were all dogs up for 採択.

Burgos was の中で a dozen of people who chose to spend their Valentine's Day at an animal 避難所 in the Philippine 資本/首都. The 避難所, run by the Philippine Animal 福利事業 Society (PAWS), 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金d guests 500 to 1,000 pesos ($9.12 - $18.24) to spend half an hour with a furry date. The 入ること/参加(者) 料金 will go toward running the 避難所, which cares for over 240 dogs and cats.

"Some of these dogs were 救助(する)d from abusive 世帯s, or they (機の)カム from the streets with traumatic experiences," Burgos, who herself owns seven dogs at home, said in an interview.

"With these 肉親,親類d of events they can be immersed with different people, and help them socialise and, hopefully, 改善する their social 技術s and get them 可決する・採択するd in the 未来," she said while petting a dog.

PAWS (選挙などの)運動をする officer Sharon Yap hoped the experience would make the guests 落ちる in love with the animals looking for a place to call home.

"The 認識/意識性 for pet 採択 is not that high, and there are still a lot of people buying pets. And it's a sad fact that a lot of animals in the 避難所 can give all the love that they can give, but they aren't given any chance," Yap said.

Animal cruelty is a 罪,犯罪 in the Philippines but many 事例/患者s go unreported, PAWS said. (Philippine peso = $0.018) (令状ing by Karen Lema Editing by Alistair Bell)
