Taiwan's VP to 捜し出す 与党 指名／任命 for 大統領の run
TAIPEI, March 13 (Reuters) - Taiwan 副大統領 William Lai will on Wednesday 登録（する） to run as the 判決，裁定 Democratic 進歩／革新的な Party's (DPP) 大統領の 候補者, the party said on Monday, his first step to run for 最高の，を越す office at the 大統領の 選挙 in January.
The move was long 推定する／予想するd, and comes after he assumed the DPP's （議長，司会の）地位，能力 in January this year after 大統領 Tsai Ing-wen 辞職するd as chairwoman in November に引き続いて the DPP's trouncing at 地元の 選挙s.
Tsai cannot run again as 大統領，／社長 予定 to 憲法の 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 限界s.
The DPP said in its 声明 about Lai that a 最初の／主要な will be held if there are two or more 候補者s. He is by far the favourite to 勝利，勝つ the 指名／任命.
The DPP 特記する／引用するd Lai as 説 at a party 会合 that everyone needed to "部隊 and 協力する" and "fight together".
As in the last 選挙 in 2020, which the DPP won handily by 約束ing to stand up to 中国, relations with Beijing are likely to 最高の，を越す the 協議事項 for 2024, 特に as 中国 ramps up 圧力 to get Taiwan to 受託する Chinese 支配する.
Lai 怒り／怒るd 中国 in 2018 while he was 首相, telling 議会 he was a "Taiwan independence 労働者" and that his position was that Taiwan was a 君主, 独立した・無所属 country - a red line for Beijing.
Asked about those comments in January, upon becoming party chairman, Lai said he was committed to に引き続いて Tsai's 政策 that 含むs 明言する／公表するing only Taiwan's people can decide their 未来, and that the 共和国 of 中国 - Taiwan's formal 指名する - and the People's 共和国 of 中国 are "not subordinate to each other".
