Wizards, 資本／首都s agree to stay in Washington until 2050
After 調査するing the 可能性 of 移転 to Virginia, the Wizards and 資本／首都s will be staying in Washington until 2050.
Washington 市長 Muriel E. Bowser and Ted Leonsis, who owns both franchises, 調印するd a 取引，協定 on Wednesday that would keep the Wizards and 資本／首都s in town as long as the D.C. 会議 認可するs it.
Per the 取引，協定, the city will put $515 million into 資本／首都 One 円形競技場 -- the home of both the Wizards and 資本／首都s -- over the next three years. Because of those 革新s, Leonsis will 調印する a new 賃貸し（する） that runs from 2025-50.
"We are the 現在の home and the 未来 home of the Washington 資本／首都s and Washington Wizards," Bowser said. "As Ted likes to say, we're going to be together for a long time."
Leonsis' company, Monumental Sports & Entertainment, will also have the ability to 拡大する throughout the city under the new 取引，協定.
Just three months ago, Leonsis had a handshake 協定 with Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) in place for the construction of a new 円形競技場 in Alexandria, Va. It would have been built in the Potomac Yard 近隣 of town as part of a $2.2 billion mixed-use 開発.
