直面するing Islamic 明言する/公表する in Syria, U.S.-trained 反逆者/反逆するs を待つ more help

By Tom Perry

GAZIANTEP, Turkey, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Syrian 反逆者/反逆する 指揮官 Abdulaziz says U.S. 軍の training helped his men kill at least 15 Islamic 明言する/公表する 闘士,戦闘機s in a 最近の 戦う/戦い 近づく Aleppo. Three months earlier, a 類似の 約束/交戦 had gone the other way, with two of his men killed.

But his group, the Mujahideen Army, does not know if more of its men will be sent for training, such is the 不確定 surrounding 計画(する)s for 拡大するing 援助(する) to the "穏健な" 反逆者/反逆するs who the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs hopes will fight Islamic 明言する/公表する in Syria.

The 50 闘士,戦闘機s were the first from their group to …に出席する the training in Qatar, part of an 表面上は covert 中央情報局 programme to 申し込む/申し出 軍の support to vetted 派閥s in 対立 to 大統領 Bashar al-Assad.

"We felt the difference. Even the (Islamic 明言する/公表する 闘士,戦闘機s) felt the difference. I knew this because this time they withdrew," said Abdulaziz, 32, 述べるing the day-long 戦う/戦い in October and giving only his first 指名する.

"There has been an 改良 in those 50."

Their month-long course in September 含むd training on how to 解雇する/砲火/射撃 迫撃砲 爆弾s, 激しい machine guns and American-made anti-戦車/タンク ミサイルs, in 新規加入 to 戦場 策略, and interviews 目的(とする)d partly at 査定する/(税金などを)課すing any 過激な leanings.

"We returned as one 部隊," said Abdulaziz, speaking at the Mujahideen Army's offi ce in the southeastern Turkish city of Gaziantep, a short 運動 from the Syrian 国境. "The guys feel they are 闘士,戦闘機s at least. Their 意気込み/士気 is higher."

But while the support has been useful, it 落ちるs short of what his group says they need to 前進する on the 戦場 where they are outgunned by the 政府 and Islamic 明言する/公表する.

His men returned with anti-戦車/タンク TOW ミサイルs, the hallmark of 反逆者/反逆するs vetted in the year-old 中央情報局 programme. But like others, it says the support is insufficient.

"My message is: support the 闘士,戦闘機s 適切に, with 弾薬/武器 and salaries. If they support us 適切に, they would not need to send the 軍用機s," Abdulaziz said, referring to U.S.-led 空気/公表する strikes against Islamic 明言する/公表する.

Mainstream 反逆者/反逆するs say the 失敗 of the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs and its 同盟(する)s to support them adequately has 許すd groups such as Islamic 明言する/公表する to 支配する after 3-1/2 years of war.

Loosely defined as the "解放する/自由な Syrian Army", these groups have 苦しむd 激しい losses fighting both 政府 and jihadist 軍隊s.

FRONT LINE

The Mujahideen Army is one of the biggest mainstream groups left in northern Syria. It says it has 6,000 職員/兵員.

Northeast of Aleppo, its 闘士,戦闘機s are helping to 持つ/拘留する a 前線 line at the western 辛勝する/優位 of Islamic 明言する/公表する's self-宣言するd "caliphate". Islamic 明言する/公表する 前進するd west に向かって Aleppo this summer before 停止(させる)ing in September to attack the Kurdish town of Kobani.

The 危険 of Islamic 明言する/公表する 再開するing its 西方の march makes the need for more support all the more 激烈な/緊急の.

But more than two months since the U.S.-led allianc e began 空気/公表する strikes against Islamic 明言する/公表する in Syria, such 穏健な groups do not know how or if they will fit into the new training 計画(する)s 存在 始める,決める up by the 米国防総省.

The U.S. 軍の says an 対立 軍隊 of 12,000 to 15,000 is needed to 奪い返す the east from Islamic 明言する/公表する. A 米国防総省 広報担当者 said on Nov. 4 there had been 進歩 in setting up the curriculum, readying the 場所/位置s and 安全な・保証するing trainers from the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs and other nations.

But the vetting 過程 has yet to begin, 示唆するing it may take several more months to start.

The new programme is separate from the 中央情報局-run one that has already vetted and 申し込む/申し出d training to a number of groups. The 中央情報局 has 拒絶する/低下するd to comment on this programme.

Western and Arab 明言する/公表するs that …に反対する Assad have already been channelling what 反逆者/反逆するs 述べる as small 量s of 軍の and 財政上の 援助(する) to 非,不,無-jihadist groups. These groups say they have already been through a vetting 過程.

"They asked about the lives of the 闘士,戦闘機s, where they worked before, everything about their lives," said Abdulaziz, 述べるing conversations with the American trainers in Qatar.

"From these questions, they understand the mindset of this young man," he said. "We told them: 'You look at Islam as if it is only (Islamic 明言する/公表する). We told them (Islamic 明言する/公表する) is not Islam さもなければ we wouldn't be fighting them. They are not イスラム教徒s to begin with'."

For the 反逆者/反逆するs, the big questions now are whether they will be part of the new programme and whether they will still receive support through the already 設立するd channels.

"We are 完全に in the dark," said a member of the Mujahideen Army's political office, who 拒絶する/低下するd to be identified.

"Are they going to finish the vetting of the Mujahideen Army or not? Are they going to be creating a new vetting programme? There is a lot of ambiguity," he said. (Editing by Giles Elgood)
