DUBAI, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Kenenisa Bekele, world 記録,記録的な/記録する 支えるもの/所有者 over 5,000 and 10,000 metres, is 目的(とする)ing for マラソン gold at the 2016 Olympics, although the Ethiopian on Sunday said he could yet switch 支援する to a shorter distance at the Rio de Janeiro games.

He may not be a 世帯 指名する like compatriot あられ/賞賛する Gebrselassie or Britain's Mo Farah, but the softly spoken Bekele is one of 運動競技のs' true 広大な/多数の/重要なs, with three Olympic golds and more than a dozen world 肩書を与えるs to his 指名する.

Yet for all the accolades, the 32-year-old's 決意 remains undimmed and he wants to make a 類似の 示す on the マラソン.

"There's nothing left for me over 5,000 and 10,000 metres, so the マラソン is very important for my career -- it's a new challenge," Bekele told Reuters in Dubai.

"The マラソン is a different race -- you have to run a 安定した pace from the beginning."

Bekele broke the Paris マラソン 記録,記録的な/記録する on his debut over the distance, clocking 2:05:03 in April, while a time 48 seconds slower at October's Chicago マラソン placed him fourth behind Kenyan trio Eliud Kipchoge, Sammy Kitwara and Dickson Chumba.

He said he 目的(とする)s to run the マラソン at the Rio Olympics in 2016, but would see how he fares over the distance before 完全に 判決,裁定 out a return to the 10,000 metres, a 肩書を与える he won in 2004 and 2008.

January's Dubai マラソン will be his third 26-miler.

"I want to run for the 記録,記録的な/記録する, but I don't think I can make that on my third マラソン - it's very 堅い," said Bekele.

"Dubai is a flat course and there's a 可能性 to run a 急速な/放蕩な time, but the 天候 is a little bit hot."

Unlike stadium-based races, マラソン courses can 異なる 大いに and it was only in 2003 that 運動競技のs' 治める/統治するing 団体/死体 批准するd a world 記録,記録的な/記録する, rather than a world best for the event.

Almost two minutes have been shaved off the 記録,記録的な/記録する since then, begging the question as to whether men could go below two hours. Bekele 疑問s it -- at least by today's 競技者s.

"I don't think human 存在s can do that, but maybe a new 世代 in the 未来... maybe in 10 years," 追加するd Bekele.
