Olympics-2018 長,指導者 says co-hosting talk unhelpful

SEOUL, March 9 (Reuters) - Only a natural 災害 could 軍隊 South Korea's Pyeongchang to consider 株ing Winter Olympics events, the 長,率いる of the 2018 organising 委員会 said on Monday, moving to 鎮圧する 現在進行中の 憶測 some sports could be switched to other cities.

Cho Yang-売春婦 told reporters that the International Olympic 委員会 (IOC) had no 問題/発行するs with Pyeongchang's 準備s and talk of 転換ing events had arisen from 誤解s and the マスコミ blowing 問題/発行するs out of 割合.

"It doesn't help our 準備s to keep 審理,公聴会 about 可能性s of splitting our Olympics," Yonhap news 機関 引用するd Cho as 説, 追加するing that the 憶測 was creating 混乱 and 損失ing Pyeongchang's 信用性.

"Rather than wasting time trying to 納得させる (the IOC) that we'll be the 単独の host of the Olympics, it'd be much better if we could 焦点(を合わせる) on running a successful event."

まっただ中に 関心s Pyeongchang was 落ちるing behind schedule, the IOC has turned over more 決定/判定勝ち(する)-making 力/強力にするs to an 統合するd working group of the IOC, international 連合s, central and 地域の 政府s and the Pyeongchang organising 委員会.

International Ski 連合 大統領 Gian-フランス系カナダ人 Kasper told Reuters last month it was "almost impossible" that ski and snowboard 実験(する) events scheduled for next year would go ahead.

There had also been 報告(する)/憶測s late last year that the luge and bobsleigh/骸骨/概要 events could be switched away from the South Korean alpine town.

The IOC has 投票(する)d to 許す host cities to move events to other towns, or countries, breaking with the tradition of keeping the Games in one 場所 and fuelling 憶測 Pyeongchang could take advantage of the change.

However, Cho said he had made it (疑いを)晴らす to IOC 長,指導者 Thomas Bach in Brazil last month that 発生地s were on schedule and Pyeongchang would be ready for the 実験(する) events.

"We would only think about a second 選択 if it was impossible to 持つ/拘留する events in the 指定するd 発生地s because of a natural 災害," Cho said.

"It makes little 経済的な sense to 株 the Olympics."

Pyeongchang's 準備s for Asia's first Winter Games outside Japan have been beset by 予算 問題/発行するs, with Gangwon 州, where the town is 位置を示すd, at 半端物s with the 政府 over how much of the cost it should 耐える.

The total cost of the Games is 概算の at more than 11 一兆 won ($10 billion), with the Alpensia 事情に応じて変わる Centre costing more than 120 billion won. (報告(する)/憶測ing by Sohee Kim, 令状ing by Peter Rutherford.; Editing by Patrick Johnston)
