A different sort of Bush: 政策 wonk Jeb 直面するs (選挙などの)運動をする image 実験(する)

WASHINGTON, March 9 (Reuters) - In 共和国の/共和党の Jeb Bush, Americans are seeing a different sort of Bush on their TV 審査するs: a 政策 wonk who wears horn-rimmed glasses and has neither his brother's famous Texas swagger nor his father's patrician 空気/公表する.

The more introverted nature of Jeb, who 収容する/認めるs he would rather stay home with a 調書をとる/予約する than go out dancing, could be one challenge for his 推定する/予想するd 大統領の (選挙などの)運動をする as he begins the 肉親,親類d of 直面する-to-直面する interaction needed in the 早期に 投票(する)ing 明言する/公表するs of Iowa and New Hampshire.

The former Florida 知事 will need to 納得させる 投票者s to elect another Bush in 2016 over other 共和国の/共和党の 星/主役にするs, many of whom so far appear more at 緩和する in the public glare, such as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Florida 上院議員 Marco Rubio.

Bush, who has not run for office for 12 years and who 収容する/認めるs he lost the 1994 Florida 知事 race because people did not connect with him, has not always looked comfortable on 行う/開催する/段階 in the 早期に 行う/開催する/段階s of the 共和国の/共和党の 指名された人 race.

Bush's 補佐官s say he prefers question-and-answer 判型s to 始める,決める-piece speeches because they plays to his strengths, such as a 詳細(に述べる)d knowledge of 政策. Many 共和国の/共和党のs say that all he needs to do is shake off some rust.

"Jeb's got 実体," said Florida 共和国の/共和党の strategist Rick Wilson. "He's got a lot of stories to tell as a successful 知事 and those things 事柄 in the 査定/評価 people are going to make about the さまざまな 候補者s in the field."

The brother of former 大統領 George W. Bush and son of former 大統領 George H.W. Bush is a practiced public (衆議院の)議長, but he tends to 急ぐ through 用意が出来ている speeches and image 専門家s say he has room to 改善する his 団体/死体 language.

And Bush is downright nerdy when it comes to 詳細(に述べる)s of 政策 and prides himself on minutiae. While the folksy George W. Bush famously 述べるd al Qaeda 交戦的なs as "evildoers," Jeb uses 外交官-speak to say the 極端論者 Islamic 明言する/公表する group is an "asymmetric 脅し."

David Yepsen, a long-time Iowa 選挙立会人 who is director of the Paul Simon Public 政策 学校/設ける at Southern Illinois University, said 大統領の 候補者s need an electric and charismatic presence and Bush has a ways to go to get there.

"If he's not exciting them with speeches and rhetoric the way Barack Obama did, he's got to do that 本人自身で and spend time with (政党の)幹部会,党集会-goers and 最初の/主要な 投票者s and really work to 打ち勝つ some of the problems he has as a result of his 存在 the third Bush to run," he said.

WINNING THE IMAGE BATTLE

Image can be a 決定的な factor in 大統領の races, as 投票者s 捜し出す someone they can 想像する in the Oval Office and to whom they can relate. The 2012 共和国の/共和党の 指名された人, Mitt Romney, was seen as stiff and aloof, a perception that also dogged 民主党員 Al 血の塊/突き刺す in 2000.

Image 専門家s 述べる Bush's 団体/死体 language as a work in 進歩 after reviewing ビデオテープs of his 最近の 外見s.

They notice that he 低迷s his shoulders 今後 to look いっそう少なく than his six -foot-four-インチ でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れる, and that he rubs his 手渡すs together, 新たな展開s his wedding (犯罪の)一味 and thrusts a 手渡す into a pocket, all 調印するs 示唆するing some degree of public 苦悩.

Jane 船員, owner of the Imagine Image 協議するing 会社/堅い in Houston, said Bush "seems uncomfortable in his 着せる/賦与するs."

Image 顧問s say he will need to 追加する passion to his obvious 政策 専門的知識.

"His words are very (手先の)技術d. He's not yet 本人自身で 熱烈な," said Patsy Cisneros, owner of West Coast-based 法人組織の/企業の Icon, an (n)役員/(a)執行力のある image specialist.

Bush is not known to 協議する an image specialist. The Bush (軍の)野営地,陣営 拒絶する/低下するd to comment on how he is 用意が出来ている for public 外見s.

At an 農業の 会議 in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, Bush appeared to be getting the hang of things. He 賞賛するd the 地元の food and reminisced 温かく about his father's first, 不成功の 大統領の 企て,努力,提案 in 1979.

The 62-year-old Jeb 収容する/認めるs that he's at heart an introvert, telling a (人が)群がる in San Francisco recently that he "would rather read a 調書をとる/予約する than go out and get in a conga line or go dancing."

When he ran again for Florida 知事 in 1998 and won, he did so by showing 投票者s he cared about 問題/発行するs important to them. 公約するing to 改善する education, for example, he visited 250 schools.

"I earned it by working hard to connect with people," he said in Detroit last month. "That experience on a 国家の 規模 is going to be part of the 戦略." (付加 報告(する)/憶測ing by Andy Sullivan; editing by Stuart Grudgings)
