SAN FRANCISCO, March 9 (Reuters) - A former partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers 告発する/非難するing the 投機・賭ける-資本/首都 会社/堅い of gender 差別 took the 証人席 on Monday as her closely watched 訴訟 entered a 批判的な 段階.

During the first few moments of her 証言, Ellen Pao said she wrote a 覚え書き to Kleiner 管理/経営 in 2012 because of "disrespect" the 会社/堅い had shown toward its 女性(の) 従業員s, and because it was about to 促進する three male junior partners, and not women with 類似の experience.

However, Kleiner moved 今後 with those 昇進/宣伝s. Pao とじ込み/提出するd her 訴訟, 主張するing that she herself was a 犠牲者 of sex-based bias at the 会社/堅い, a few months later.

Pao's 訴訟 against the 会社/堅い that 支援するd Google, アマゾン and dozens more iconic 科学(工学)技術 companies helped 誘発する a 幅の広い and 現在進行中の discussion about gender in Silicon Valley.

尋問 Pao 供給するs the best 適切な時期 for each 味方する to clinch their arguments, 雇用 lawyers に引き続いて the 裁判,公判 say. To 勝利,勝つ, Pao must seem 有能な, but not 防御の, 雇用 lawyers say, while Kleiner's lawyers will try to show she 欠如(する)d the 資格s to 前進する without 尋問 her so 厳しく they lose the 陪審/陪審員団's sympathy. [ID: L1N0W62MX]

So far, Kleiner's 事例/患者 has tried to tread a 罰金 line between 認めるing that Pao excelled in some areas, such as 批判的な thinki ng, and arguing that fell short on the leadership and interpersonal 技術s needed to 前進する at the 会社/堅い.

In her 訴訟 Pao, now 暫定的な 長,指導者 (n)役員/(a)執行力のある at social news service Reddit, said her standing at Kleiner 悪化するd after she ended a 簡潔な/要約する 事件/事情/状勢 with another partner who later left the 会社/堅い. Her career was sidelined after he and the 会社/堅い started 報復するing against her, her lawyers have argued.

But some 証言,証人/目撃するs, 含むing partner and onetime 助言者 John Doerr, have said her 欠如(する) of 進歩 stemmed from subpar 業績/成果, not 差別 or 報復.

The 事例/患者 is Pao v. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers LLC, CGC-12-520719, in California Superior 法廷,裁判所, in the 郡 of San Francisco. (報告(する)/憶測ing by Dan Levine and Sarah McBride)
